"You are looking at a historically unique collection of Finnish wartime photographs. The digital archive contains around 160,000 photographs from the Second World War from a time period of six years, from autumn 1939 to the summer of 1945. The pictures portray life on the home front, damage done by bombings, the war industry, the evacuation of Finnish Karelia as well as events and operations at the front.
The photos are licensed under Creative Commons CC BY 4.0. You may distribute, edit and publish the photographs as long as SA-kuva is credited as the source. The same licensing terms apply to commercial publications as well. The license does not cover film footage which is provided by the Finnish National Audiovisual Institute (KAVI).
The original photographs, negatives and captions are stored in the Finnish Defence Forces Photograph Archive in the Military Museum. The pictures can still also be viewed personally in the archive. If you have any questions about the photographs or the digital archive, please contact kuva-arkisto.sotamuseo@mil.fi"
