I have to agree- I find most of the new kits to be a horribly cluttered mess, like their kit has been designed by the BBC costume team to be "generic quasi-historical chic" . Its clutter for the sake of clutter, and dynamic poses which make an army look a "Strictly" show opening dance routine. Urghh. |

I disagree. This is what we had:
This is what we have now:
The second figure doesn't look anything like any kind of dance routine. He looks posed, ready to fight. The first one looks like he is about to take his final bow at the end of a well heralded performance. The heroic x was necessary when you were doing mostly one piece castings. Probably the old Stormcaller figure has more clutter with all those runes on this armour. The new Khorne bloodbound basic guys have very little clutter on them. None of the figures in the above pictures are posed like a dance routine. The ogre on the mammoth thing is actually not very dynamically posed. The Taurox would look a lot better with wheels. I'll give you that. |

I agree with deadles and MT. That undead thingy. While a nice painting it would make, a good miniature it does not. It is really many miniatures. It should have been detachment. mixedunit or small detachment. The armored car looks like a box on wheels, er tracks. I do like the red era. Much nicer, as in less gruesome. Granny ain't buying kids this modern stuff. Many older ladies already have curly hair enough thanks very much. Tomato tomato on the space wolf. They both have runes. The first could have been made more multi part. Other than 2 viable poses (one casting one fighting) they aren't very different. |

I put wheels on my tauroxes and they remind me of an MRAP. |

Yeah, the artist still wins in my book. The top of the new one looks passable, but those heels look clunky. More like clown shoes. At least in this pic those feet look huge. I don't feel the heels are high enough to make the point. Also I feel they are just stupid for life down hive. Getting stuck in a great every two minutes or worse, breaking in the middle of a rumble. Are there rules for that? A roll or something each move? It should be noted the difference in smothness/texture is due to the release agents used. Spray for the plastic, talc for the metal. Also remember the plastic is multi part, the metal is one piece. |

Thanks for posting that AWuuu. The new models certainly look a lot less busy than the old ones with much of the extraneous bits removed. That will be nice for painting purposes. I'm looking forward to picking my copy up next week. The local store is saving one for me. |

He means they'll let him take the top one off the stack. Will be interesting to see how it sells. I would expect a lot of pre orders. But that may have them printing more anyway. I know space hulk sold quick first time around and hobbit 1 did not (the limited to the first print run figure was still there by the end). Will be interesting to see where this fits in. How did blood bowl do? |
AWuuuu | 11 Nov 2017 6:27 a.m. PST |
Enough well that they switched gangs from resin to plastic. |

I meant the latest edition blood bowl. I was also talking about 3rd edition space hulk. I thought the new blood bowl teams were all plastic? |
AWuuuu | 13 Nov 2017 3:00 p.m. PST |
They are, but they were meant to be resin, before large sales made them reconsider. Even Troll and Ogre are plastic when all of the extras were meant to be resin too. And extra photo

Thanks for the photos and link AWuuu. Actually seeing the new Esher figure makes me reconsider and may buy the game now. |

I'm in the other camp. Apart from being multi part i can't see any improvements. They should have better faces, but they are all obscured (plastic expressions aside) from what I have seen, hair masks, what not. At they end of the day they, new and old, are exactly the same. Just different. They would have been wiser to create some new gangs. Then the fence would be a boring place to sit. The bulk heads look OK. But no more detailed than the old ones. Do they actually stack, or are you just holding it up? |
SeattleGamer | 14 Nov 2017 8:45 a.m. PST |
I think multipart plastics is a HUGE improvement. No more gangs with the same exact poses. Much easier customization with weapons too. Many of the old metal poses held their weapons in tight, making custom jobs a ton of work. I think the bulkheads look good, but I agree with you, they are no more detailed than the old ones. Not sure they need to stack. They are intended for the base game and use with the tunnel ground tiles. Simple blocking terrain. I suspect people who are going to play this with 3D terrain have other plans for taller stuff. |

I agree with the ease of multi part. But now with the old figures being collectors items single poses make them nicer to collect and display as you know what they look like and how many are in the set. Better than random plastic bits stuck together for collecting. In the original box they really should have had plastic arm or hand and eapon sprues separate from the orlock and goliath bodies. Then used the same ones with the metal Bodies. But only for customizing. For collecting I am so glad they were all one piece metal (yes except he vies and such). |

Picked up a copy of White Dwarf (November issue) and there was a TON of stuff inside for Necromunda: What's in the box, house backgrounds, how to build and paint articles, and a battle report. I highly recommend the issue to those interested in the newest Necromunda! |
Whemever1 | 23 Nov 2017 10:03 a.m. PST |
My main memory of playing Necromunda is how pissed off I'd feel after my characters died or were maimed. That's why I play Pulp Alley instead. Plus, less skulz. |
