A bunch of us here in the Lone Star historical Miniatures (LSHM) gaming club here in Texas have started working on a new project 28mm American Civil War.

I have decided to focus on the Union Army. We are going to use Fire and Fury Regimental rules for this project. Rob Gravener, Oscar Barela and a few others are busy painting forces for a early fall game play. Here is my first regiment, the 14th Indiana Regiment. These are mainly Old Glory figures:

Old Glory are great figures, very animated, they mix nicely with Sash & Saber. I really like your identification markers on your bases.

"You Yankee!" Among my neighbors… that is about as bad an insult as there is. We have to use confederates on both sides in our games because we can't ever find anyone to paint the Yanks!

This is a large project. I have been much daunted by my own efforts in 15s so I wish y'all well.

Perhaps it is the significant number of manufacturers of great 28mm ACW -- not the least being Perry -- but my group of gamers in Indiana, long wedded to Napoleonics, also moved into ACW as an additional area for gaming. We are also using and enjoying Regimental Fire and Fury. We are living parallel lives with one big exception. We Yankees all want to paint Hoods Texas brigade. You as a Texan honor one of the best units from my home state. Thanks for the honor. Amusing. That said, most of my Union will be Indiana, Illinois and Ohio in hats and I am looking forward to the Western theater. Enjoy. We are. FYI -- we hide our Confederate units with Confederate battle flags in dark corners of our gaming rooms for fear that our neighbors will find them.

Esquire – funny. I am a Michigan native, went into the Army and retired in 2008, still working for the Army and now in San Antonio (Fort Sam Houston). Being a die-hard Yankee I plan to only build Union troops – plenty of guys here willing to build Hoods Texans (NOT ME). "Skipper John" is my brother and also lives in the south (Georgia).
