Aslo Ospreys "Louis XV's army(5)Colonial andNaval Troops.by Rene Chartrand ..French authority..great book. Hope this helps. |

Jurgenation's suggestions are spot on. The only other one I can think of is Foundry's book, Enemies of the Raj which has some information on the French. It's a hard period to find out info on and get figures for. I have the Indus figures, very nice, hard to get in the UK, not a complete range as for example, they really need a command set for the Sepoys. Du Bussy's infantry with the small lapels need a fudge to recreate. Personally, I don't agree with the Wargames Illustrated interpretation of the hat for British infantry. From what I've read, a tricorne is more likely, perhaps at most with the lace removed to turn it into a floppy hat. I couldn't begin to guess what the European Hussars look like! If anyone knows, please let me know. No one does these figures. |

The uniformed SEPOY type troops seem to be the hardest to come by ? |

The uniformed SEPOY type troops seem to be the hardest to come by ? The Indus sepoys mentioned above are just what you are looking for, though unfortunately they don't do any command figures. I believe Wargames Emporium stock them in the UK. I couldn't begin to guess what the European Hussars look like! If anyone knows, please let me know. That's something I've often wondered about. Nothing like their Hungarian counterparts, I'll wager! |

Yes Indus makes British and French Sepoys .plus Generic Sepoys..Command figures I have fudged from Everywhere.no one makes EIC Europeans..I use American Rev. in Slouch hats painted white w/short coats and Gingham blue striping.Amd use Perry and Eureka am.Rev Artilery men w/ sleeves or not .as they dressed to climate ..also in Stocking caps.I luckily have old London 'waroom figs for D/Bussyes Corps. But you can fudge w/ French SYw in Polhkam caps and Eureka Arquebussiers d'Grassin for Kerjeans and the Grenadier Comp..he had 7 companys one in pink.Eureka also makes Mysore and Bengal infantry and Rajput Cav. Beautiful figs. Indus has Lots of elephants and Maharatta cav and Inf.,along w/ rocketeers and native artillery.they lovedRockets. Also Pindari Cav. etc..etc…remembers it's all about the show ..My games can be seen on the SYW Convention site..and some on the Campaigns in Germania site along w/ Bill protz;s game.I am on FaceBook as Juergen Olk..its a lot of Fun research Good Luck Sahib.Feel free to ask me anything. |

The Hussars were originally Recruited by Fischer of European infamy..some say Green uniform like their European counterparts..just do what you think is right ..lots of conflicting info.Native Cavalry was usually used the most ..when they decided to fight. |

I use my Minden Miniatures British and French officers for my Sepoys, assuming a European officer for each unit. The Fife & Drum AWI British line or Guards officers in slouch hat work for India and are compatible in size with the Indus figures ( I really like the Indus figures) |

Yes the Fife and Drum work well,I used them for my Bengal European Regt.both Fife and Drum and Indus as well as Eureka are very clean figures. |
