I've been thinking of getting into WW2 torpedo boat actions but never know what to buy. With the current PTDockyard sale it looks like a good time to start, but I'm quite overwhelmed looking at their extensive offering. What is a good "starter set" of British and German WW2 small crafts?

Hi TF58;
I really enjoyed reading books like Motor Gun Boat (Dog Boat) 658 and Flag Four, detailing Coastal Ops, especially in the Adriatic. Lots of good scenario ideas.
I then purchased 4 RN MGBs, a few Vosper MTBs and for the Germans, S-boats, an R-Boat, some FlakLighters and a Trawler. I have the Flaklighter rules and like them.

Get two of the Revell Flower Class Corvette in 1/72nd scale. Convert one into a merchant ship. Add the Airfix S-Boat and get started doing coastal battles.

Joep123 has some good suggestions. For reading I'd add "Battle for the Narrow Seas" for the Channel and North Sea. Great read.

Hi TF58

The mix that JoeP recommended is a good one. It also depends what theater you are looking to do- a few MAS and Higgins PTs can spice up the Med.

A merchant will give everyone something to hunt too.

We have most info in our rules and scenarios in later magazine articles.

Thanks for the suggestions! I just sent out an ordering email to PTdockyard.
