"De tantos hechos de armas en los que participaron las unidades de Regulares durante la época del Protectorado español de Marruecos quizá uno de los menos conocidos y en cambio más emblemáticos sea el combate en las Peñas de Kaiat, ya que por dicha acción tanto una unidad del entonces Grupo de Fuerzas Regulares Indígenas de Tetuán nº 1 como ocho componentes de la misma recibieron una de las más altas recompensas al valor de nuestro ejército. En esta acción concreta, al I Tabor de los Regulares de Tetuán se le concede la Medalla Militar Colectiva y a su Jefe y otros siete miembros de la unidad se les recompensa con la Medalla Militar Individual…."
