"Comenzando el año 1815 y acabada ya la Guerra de la Independencia, en la península hay 68 cuerpos de infantería y 56 de infantería ligera, todos ellos de un solo batallón. Muchos de ellos son unidades creadas durante la guerra. Otros cuerpos se han ido enviando a América donde aún sigue la guerra contra los independentistas, o han sido designados para partir por el sorteo de diciembre de 1814. En marzo se reorganizan todos los cuerpos en la península de modo que amalgamando cuerpos se crean 47 regimientos de 3 batallones y 12 batallones ligeros, quedando en el siguiente orden de precedencia…"
