As a boy of about 11/12, I had the great pleasure of actually meeting and talking to Rev. Awdry at a model railway show. He was a charming, kind gentleman who even allowed me to drive a train round his 009 layout!

I can't help finding posting this on TMP somewhat inappropriate as he was a lifelong conscientious objector who would possibly have disapproved of much of what we do…

Thank you, I am just starting to get my grand kid's into Thomas. Not the awful new stuff where the authors are clearly not railway enthusiasts.
