A mediodía se hace un alto para servir el rancho y dar descanso a la tropa, una hora después se reinicia la marcha Por su parte, la columna al mando de Backhouse empezó a sufrir, desde la madrugada, ataques de partidas de caballería enemiga que pusieron en alarma a toda a fuerza. A partir del mediodía avanzaban formaciones de caballería enemiga y se detuvo la marcha de la columna. La caballería enemiga permaneció a la vista, pero fuera de alcance de la artillería. Al atardecer, se reinició la marcha bajo la vista de la caballería enemiga. Durante la noche se sufrieron nuevos ataques de la caballería virreinal…"

Nicely done! Thanks for digging this up Tango, and for your work, Carlos. I was originally confused as to why Spanish cavalry were attacking English troops until I read the blog and saw it was 1807 in South America. Makes me realize that my knowledge of what transpired in South America is pretty slim. The Napoleonic era truly was a world war, with ever-shifting alliances! |
