Are there any good dramatic accounts of the Battle of Britain? I've seen countless documentaries on the subject, but it seems to be fertile ground to follow the harrowing & uncertain plight of the British pilots. |

I think Ridley Scott is coming with a new Battle of Britain movie next year. |

Dark Blue World is a very good film. Only a little aerial combat [cuts from the original battle of Britain film] but a great story and very well made. For those unaware it is he story of a few of the Czech pilots who flew with the RAF. One returned to Czechoslovakia and is imprisoned as a suspected traitor. I think it is fiction but obviously based on real events. |

First light, a BBC production based on the personal account of young pilot Geoffrey Wellum. A lot of clips from the movie Battle of Britain, but a really good drama about the young men who saved us. YouTube link |

Although "Battle of Britain" is worth a watch I found it to be nearly devoid of drama. Far too dry for my taste, granted I'm a US citizen… I also found the effects of aircraft on the ground being destroyed a bit like Godzilla destroying buildings in Tokyo – why are the buildings (and planes) apparently empty? Lovely air to air combat (and a lot of it) however. |

I remember the Hornet Squadron mini series from either the BBC or PBS, but can't recall if it was any good… |

The Hornet squadron series was called Piece of Cake (see the Dunkirk postings near this one. |

I second (third?) Dark Blue World and Piece of Cake. Ridley Scott take note…this is how CGI for Battle of Britain should be done: YouTube link |

Flashman. I liked the clip of The German when I first saw it too. But, I had to puzzle and ask if they could have made Ireland after being in an air battle. Especially the 109 coming out of France. Just curious |

I liked "The German" right up to the "reveal" that they'd landed in Ireland. Well beyond the flying range, especially after some minutes of air combat. Very well done, but impossible scenario. |

Saw "Battle of Britain" when it hit the theaters. Great battle scenes and how about Susannah York! |
