Depends, they would likely have canvas to cover the entire wagon, but might have on or more sides rolled up, depending on the weather. |

The ambulances, especially the Rucker, had black enameled or rubberized canvas tops and sides. The sides were designed to roll up to provide fresh air for the passengers, and could be tied down in place at night, or during inclement weather. See here:
Although this reproduction has a white canvas top, and other images show the same, this was quickly replaced in the field with the rubberized or enameled canvas tops and sides, and by Gettysburg few, if any, would have had white canvas.
