I use Airfix Italians with some head swaps for officers etc. |

the ideal mini would be, in that scale, a guy in overcoat with similar itlian helmet and mauser pouches..nobody makes it |

Thanks for the info. Dentwist, I am trying to avoid any head swaps… But… your idea of Italians with a few Brit headswaps for officers is minimalist and therefore a good one. I was thinking early war British with a head swap with Italians, or even late WWI British (Emhar 7201 for example) which would pretty much mean each figure gets a head (chuckle). Emhar WWI Brit Artillery 7202 might also work with Italian head swaps. For a reserve platoon, I was thinking either plain French or Brits with a head swap with French (as many reserve units were still equipped with the Adrian helmets). Has anybody thought of using HaT Polish Infantry 8115 – the helmets are similar to the Greek/Italian M1934/39 model? 96 figures for like $15 USD is tempting. This would sort of follow Italwars post. |

But what to do about the Evzones?! |
Beagle | 14 Aug 2017 10:19 p.m. PST |
Good point Evzones!! Here is what "Olli from Germany" did for a Balkan War Greek Army (1913 but it might stretch to 1939): hat.com/Othr9/Olli10P.html He used early war (WWI) French (with the Adrian helmet) for the Greek regulars (which we already discussed above) but here is what he did for the Evzones: "The famous Evzone light Infantry in the centre started their lives as Russian Grenadiers from the age of Peter the Great, but with a few cuts on the cap it looks roughly like an Evzone Barett (thought long about shortening the Rifles, but the long Lebels of the French Infantry where nearly as long and I didn´t wanted to leave all these elite force without a bayonet). Many thanks to my hobby colleague Nikolaos from the Forum for his advice about the best conversion base for these miniatures." Since that is from an old HaT forum, now mostly defunct, it would appear he used HaT Russian Grenadiers from the early 18th century but I cannot find any such figures (the only 1/72 Russian figures I find from that period are from Zvezda and they only have 3 Grenadiers per box so that probably is not what he did. The priest looks remarkably like the one out of Orion 72013 (Ukranian Cossacks circa 1650) but none of the other figures from that set look like they could work for Evzones. After a little digging I found HaT 8004 which are Union Zouaves which look like they might work for Evzones. Lots of folks make Zouaves… What do ya'll think about that idea? |

"Has anybody thought of using HaT Polish Infantry 8115 – the helmets are similar to the Greek/Italian M1934/39 model?" I looked at those but they have boots not leggings/gaiters. |

For my Evzone Battalion O will use Hat Colonial Wars Indian Infantry with Raventhorpe Italian heads |

"For my Evzone Battalion O will use Hat Colonial Wars Indian Infantry with Raventhorpe Italian heads" Dentwist, that is brilliant! I actually have a box of HaT 8203 Colonial Wars Indians that I was looking at using for some sort of WWII East African unit but was trying to figure out what to do with that huge turban so that is perfect! Did you use 20mm or 25mm Raventhorpe heads? |
Dentwist | 17 Aug 2017 4:12 a.m. PST |
The 20mm ones, steal helmets, I also got a few of the British officer heads |
Gaz0045 | 17 Aug 2017 7:08 a.m. PST |
Peter Pig 15mm heads fit lots of plastic 206mm figures…..as the plastics are not as bulky as their metal cousins…….EWM do separate heads too…in 20mm. |

Oh, I see. I finally found the Raventhorpe wevsite – kinda pricey. I'll try some of those heads from HaT 8115 and see what that looks like. |

I use HaT Romanians (8118 WWII Romanian Infantry) for some of my Greeks. They do have gaiters, and the helmets are sort of right. ;-) |
