PS. And if you say potato gun I won't believe you. Why would they get something they can't get ammo for?

It looks like some kind of oversized grenade launcher a la M79 style. Note the "rocket" (or whatever it is) in the lower left corner. Presumably the projectile launched by the "rifle".

Looks like a not very useful weapons system to me. Typically North Korean.

well, very silly.

Looks like a riot gun, but I doubt NK's riot control handbook gets anymore sophisticated than 'shoot everyone and intern their families'. If its some kind of GL, as suggested, I'm not sure I'd be that keen on firing it and even less so if there is some kind of rocket involved… I'm assuming NK's defence industry is driven by a mixture resource restrictions, politics and fear of ending up in an interment camp.

The one thing that fascinates me about these photos is the fact that Kim is nearly always surrounded by a bunch senior, in several senses of the word, officers and virtually no one else, which makes me wonder just how hideously top heavy the NK military is (even when he's pictured with rank and file there's always a hideous amount of brass and long service ribbon on show). And for a man whose family established NK's much vaunted military first strategy and has a military rank he's looking remarkably perplexed by the contraption (especially for what is picked piece of official propaganda).

To me, it looks as though he may be thinking
"What is this piece of s***?"

And top heavy in more than one sense too! Lil Kim is getting bigger and bigger*, so one would expect him to have strong spotters all around him, men in their, prime, just in case he needs help after a fall, or simply to help him get get back on his feet from a sitting position.

But then again, he wants to perpetuate the idea that he's the youngest, healthiest and best looking of all North Korea's males.

* Here's a photo from a few months ago. Hard to believe that he's barely 35 years old.

Blunderbuss.. Reminds me of the old Jay Leno SNL skit where tin foil aliens carrying blunderbuss are confronted by the army lead by the late Phil Hartman.

Essentially, from a very faulty memory:

Alien: (standing on ramp of tin foil space ship rocket) We are hear to conquer your planet (waves blunderbuss at soldiers) We have superior weapons such as this… It can fire a metal projectile with lethal results from almost 50 of your feet away.

Officer: Where did you get that space ship?

Alien: (hemming and hawing) Er… we did NOT find it in a field near our home.

Officer: Well (Brandishing an M-16) We have weapons such as this that can fire up to 950 metal projectiles with lethal results as much as 2500 feet away. And we have much larger more powerful ones than this.

Alien: (slowly retreating up ramp to space ship). We are leaving now to give you time to consider how you will present yourselves when we come back to accept your surrender. While we are gone you should devise a plan for giving us all your resources…..

2nd Alien: (also retreating up ramp) And Women…..

Alien: Yes. Right. We are leaving now, and we will return shortly to accept your surrender……

That's Korea's ICRPG. It can fire an RPG head and hit Des Moines! With these the North Korean Army will spread death and destruction and tear down the runn9ing dog fascist US Government.

So says Fearless Leader. Do you dare disagree with him?

Robert,

An Intercontinental RPG? Holy cow! :)

Anyone want to start a pool on how long before Kim Jong Unstable dies from complications from diabetes?
