Need is a strong word for an MG-34. It is, however, wholly appropriate for the MG-42 with full tripod and optical sight.

Feel like a kid in a candy store without a penny in my pocket.
( couldn't decide if I liked the MP-44 or Lewis more)
I want the BAR on the lop left of page 15

Why would you want one? There's only one reason to want a machine gun, that's to kill people. That's what their designed for.

Sorry, should have said, they have absolutely no other purpose (but they do sound good)

Believe it or not, you are allowed to want to own and shoot firearms without wanting to kill people.

I know people with a class three license. Not one of them has ever killed anyone. They do have fun shooting them at ranges though. Before you ask, a class three license requires a very thorough set of documentation and clearance to get, so it's not like the average schmoe could get one.

Duck hunting – that's what you need an MG-34 for.

Narratio11 Aug 2017 7:50 p.m. PST

Ducks? I was thinking squirrel or rabbit. Ducks would definitely need an MG-42, they're tricky Bleeped texts.

No on in the history of class three weapons has ever used on in a crime of murder in about 80 years of licensing.

Machine guns are designed to kill people, but they are also very fun to shoot at non-living targets too. And they are interesting to collect and admire for their design and workmanship.

Lots of people own all kinds of dangerous things and never do anything bad with them.

Thousands of people go to Las Vegas and fire fully automatic weapons of all kinds because it's fun. MRS Bunkermeister really likes the M3 and the Thompson.

The gun is cheap; It's the ammo that's going to cost you… ;-)

"Hey look! I just shot off a grand in ammo in 30 seconds!"

I knew a gun dealer back in the 1980s who turned up to a practical rifle shoot one weekend here in the UK at the range I frequented, bearing an MG34. The range marshall was used to him bring strange weapons, he'd brought a Boyes anti tank rifle a few weeks earlier, so after being told that the breech worked on blowback to reload and he was using some Hungarian ammo marked LP for Low Power so would have to hand cock the gun after every shot, he allowed on the range. He put a 50 round belt on, pulled the trigger, and used the whole lot in about 3 seconds.Target was obliterated of course, and the range marshall, once he had got over the shock, told him to take his gun and never darken his door with it again, or words to that effect (actually just two words were used and a lot of finger pointing). The following month Guns Review magazine carried a prominent warning on the first page saying Beware of Hungarian ammo marked LP. LP is Hungarian for High Power.
If I won the lottery I'd be over to the US for this auction like a shot, some of those Winchesters look absolutely gorgeous.

Since a kid I have wanted a Walker Colt, even a replica, but a original would be cooler.
