As a conclusion to my Dead Lands campaign, I want to run a Great Rail Wars game of the 2nd Mexican American War of 1877. Santa Anna will returning with pretty much the same soldiers he had from his previous try.

I'm pretty certain there are no undead Mexican-American war figures in 28mm. So I need to convert some. There are a number of nice metal ranges for living troops, but are there any plastic versions? For the numbers I want, converting metals is a no go.

Conversely, is there a range in plastic that could pass as Santa Anna's troops? I was thinking about some Perry French Napoleonic figures:

As a side note, I could use these OG as zombies:

Any other suggestions?

Thanks

Hey, I broke the TMP.

Not plastic – perhaps some of the undead from Flintloque would work.

Flying Frog's "Shadows of Brimstone" will have some 30mm undead Mexican troops available sometime in the next year.

You can probably find some of the renders on the Kickstarter page.

Thanks,

I've looked at some of the Flintloque undead before, I'll give them another look.

Didn't know about the Brimstone undead Mexicans. Looks promising, not sure if they will be released soon enough.

The Lost Army set will get a demo at GenCon, and the rest of my pledge should be shipping soon, so I imagine they are witching a few months of general release.

You might also consider using a combination of Warlord Or Perry Napoleonic French, with Mantic Ghoul or Zombie parts.

Another thought might be to use an existing range (Old Glory), and paint them as "Spectrals", similar to the Army of the Dead in LOTR.

I love that idea!

Yes the "spectral" idea is pretty good.

Glad it was helpful! I've done something similar with my "Wierd-AWI" set-ups, using some FIW colonial troops as spectral guardians against the Brits.
