Wow. I've been waiting for this for years. The money is right up there on the screen.

1. Cersei won't be paying the Iron Bank any time soon.
2. Did Randyl Tarly take a Flame? I'm not sure.
3. Thank the Seven that Sam didn't have to do anything disgusting this week.
4. Bran. Don't be such a jerk to Meera! Twerp….
5. I think Dany likes Jon.
6. Where's Gendry?
7. Of course Jamie lives. Doesn't he?
8. Arya!
9. Bronn! You're a handy man to have around.

What are some of the fantasy settings that you enjoy using for wargame campaigns, battles fought in or basing your armies upon?

Some of mine are
Warhammer
Iron Kingdoms
Middle Earth
Bazil Broketail
Dragonriders of the Styx
Game of Thrones
Frostgrave

Winston Smith06 Aug 2017 8:18 p.m. PST

Bug.

The Beast Rampant06 Aug 2017 8:35 p.m. PST

1. Didn't they say the gold was fast-tracked to Kings Landing, and this was just the groceries? I will rewatch it tomorrow.

2. Seems unlikely he'd die off-screen.

3. That WAS a great montage!

4. Like he was all fuzzy with his sisters?

5. If she's going to marry ANYONE for dynasty, Jon is the only logical choice. Hopefully their young'uns won't end up like Carlos II.

6. The actor who plays Gendry is "on the payroll" for this season.

7. Seems anticlimactic to have him slip down and die in the shower.

8. Arya had some cool scenes! This was a HUGE family reunion episode.

9. I thought he was dead for sure.

Dragon Babe has rocks in her head. The battle is OVER, once that ballista shot went past, just head back to the flat-top. Let some 1st-level mook walk over and put a torch to the arty. Needlessly risking her life and, well, all of her army's while she's at it.

Cold Warrior06 Aug 2017 8:37 p.m. PST

"1. Cersei won't be paying the Iron Bank any time soon."

The gold made it to King's Landing ahead of the grain convoy that was attacked. Cersei has the gold, and perhaps the Golden Company at some point soon.

Cold Warrior06 Aug 2017 8:44 p.m. PST

BTW, was discussing this with someone earlier. Have a sneaking suspicion I know how this season will end on a cliffhanger.

Night King has found the Horn of Winter Mance Rayder was searching for.

This season will end with the Night King blowing the horn and shattering the wall…….

Just my theory at any rate.

The Beast Rampant06 Aug 2017 9:18 p.m. PST

The actor who plays Gendry is "on the payroll" for this season.

I don't suppose quotes were really necessary for that. I usually type on a desktop. Which also doesn't auto-correct all over the place.

Cersei has the gold, and perhaps the Golden Company at some point soon.

Great point! Now that you say it, I think that's a given. Martin might leave Dany's booty call to rot in the green room, but B&W won't.

This season will end with the Night King blowing the horn and shattering the wall……

I had also thought that seemed a likely cliffhanger.

Those ships full of Dothraki made good time. Must've been some gale force winds to get them there that quickly. Or maybe the dragons towed them.

Tango0106 Aug 2017 10:48 p.m. PST

1. Cercei have the money… so she can pay…
2. I'm sure he did… not his son… (who imho was not d'accord with his father treason).
3. Yes.
4. Brand have died en the cave… this is not Bran…
5. And viceversa…
6. Melissandre left him in Dragostone, were he work as a blacksmith.
7. I vote yes…
8. As I have said… how many microseconds of life have Littlefinger?. She can not only kill you with a disguise … also in a hand to hand with swords.
9. I want Bronn as best friend!…in any War… I don't think he was dead… I saw the chapter twice and only the two white horses died by fire… he fell to the lake with Jaime… and of course he is who could pull him out….

Dragonstone is just outside Blackwater Bay. The Lannisters were getting ready to cross the Blackwater to reach Kingslanding. So yeah just a short boat ride to land the army and ride to the battlefield.

But really someone needs to rewrite those rules. Dragons are way overpowered. Only damaged by artillery. Unlimited breath attacks. Come on. Plus I thought we were using equal point armies. Bad enough when you outnumber me by 4 times the number of troops and they are all medium cavalry. Then you add in a monster. Come on dud. No will play with you anymore if you keep this up.

Col Durnford07 Aug 2017 6:16 a.m. PST

Why attack the wagons and not just the troops?

I thought they need stocks.

It did make lovely explosion in any case.

Bob Runnicles07 Aug 2017 7:55 a.m. PST

After the first pass she couldn't attack the troops because they were all intermingled with Dothraki and she isn't about to toast them with 'friendly fire'.

Dynaman878907 Aug 2017 7:57 a.m. PST

You attack the wagons since the f2f guys can pack lots of combustables in them! Not sure how many were real or chi, which is a good thing.

Winston Smith07 Aug 2017 7:59 a.m. PST

As for the Night King blowing The Horn, nothing in the show has lead up to it. There was a horn in the horde of dragonglass found at the Fist of the First Men, but it was a split second shot. Methinks they abandoned that idea in later scripts. Mentioned in the books, ignored in the show.

The dead are going to walk around the Wall. Keep an eye on the map in the opening credits. The Bay is frozen over. That's why all the Kool Kids are heading for Eastwatch. The Hound saw it in the flames too.
No Horn needed.
No hacking involved in this speculation. Just guessing. grin

The Beast Rampant07 Aug 2017 8:26 a.m. PST

Mentioned in the books, ignored in the show.

Ah! Sometimes the two bleed together for me. And I forgot the Hound's vision.

BTW, my vote is for HIM as the the best use of a "second chance" character. He's definitely one of my faves.

Thomas Thomas07 Aug 2017 9:37 a.m. PST

Gold has reached King's Landing – they are destroying stores/food etc. which might have been better to capture but no way for Dany to know that.

Leaders lead so Dany stayed in the fight.

Battles are not meant to be fair. Wargames have equal points not battles – its the business of generals to make sure they aren't fair.

Loved Jamie doing a St. George v. Drogon. Might have been better to have Drogon leaking fire from his wound, trouble breathing fire, so Jamie hits with lance but Drogon bites off horse's head and tosses Jamie into lake (just destroying scorpion with tail would have been cool and explain Bron's survival).

Still great battle only distraction was Lannister armor esp penis helms on archers. Dickon! Give him some plot armor please (liked actor in Black Sails too).

The Good Guys are always losing a fave character unexpectedly, so it would be a nice change of pace to have it happen to the Lannisters.

Besides, if Jaime is dead then Arya can assume his face and get close enough to Cersei to mark her off her list.

Dynaman878907 Aug 2017 10:43 a.m. PST

The lannisterrs have lost more than a few family members during the show

John the OFM07 Aug 2017 11:09 a.m. PST

Some killed by Lannisters.

Dynaman878907 Aug 2017 11:41 a.m. PST

At least 2, 3 if Tommen counts

Winston Smith07 Aug 2017 11:44 a.m. PST

Jaime killed his cousin.
Cersei nuked Lancel and Kevan.

Dynaman878907 Aug 2017 12:38 p.m. PST

Up to 5 (still if Tommen counts)

The Beast Rampant07 Aug 2017 1:13 p.m. PST

Leaders lead so Dany stayed in the fight.

She's not *leading*. She's the rolling barrage before the assault. A chess king can move in any direction he wants? Cool, get him out front and put him to work!

Besides, if Jaime is dead then Arya can assume his face and get close enough to Cersei to mark her off her list.

"Aren't you a little short for a Kingsguard?"

I still don't see why Jamie is pissed that ANYONE wanted his eldest son dead- even a good parent would *understand* when his kid is an obvious monster with near-ultimate power and beyond anyone's ability to reign in. And a deadbeat dad like Jamie should care even less.

Where's the lump in his throat for Tommen, Joffery's complete opposite, whom Cersei herself killed as surely as if she'd defenestrated him herself? Jamie's reality check has bounced enough times He should have been a crispy critter last night.

Patrick R07 Aug 2017 3:22 p.m. PST

Continuing my theory that Dany isn't a character, but a plot device, my money is on Drogon either dying from the wound/infection or whatever nasty poison Maester Mengele dipped the bolt in. This will drive Dany over the edge and she becomes a threat to the whole of Westeros.

Winston Smith07 Aug 2017 3:29 p.m. PST

She already is a threat.
Madness will not skip a generation.

Mithmee07 Aug 2017 6:16 p.m. PST

Cercei have the money… so she can pay.

Plus she does not have to pay her soldiers either, since most of them got themselves a bit dead.

Why attack the wagons and not just the troops?

Because her Dothraki were hitting the front lines at the time she started burning the wagons.

Mithmee07 Aug 2017 6:19 p.m. PST

Dragons are way overpowered.

Thing is there was only one Dragon at this battle.

So that begs the question of where are the other two.

Winston Smith07 Aug 2017 6:41 p.m. PST

Since Ser Davos has taken up the job of Grammer Nazi from Stannis (less vs fewer), allow me to say that that is the incorrect usage of "begging the question". grin
You ASKED a question. You didn't beg it. I shall leave Googling "begging the question" as an exercise for the student.

Dickon

Earl of the North08 Aug 2017 3:53 a.m. PST

Looking at the clip for the next episode, it seems to be portraying Dany as acting draconian when she tells the enemy soldiers to bend the knee or die, but wouldn't that be the same for everyone its not as if any side has been setting up POW camps.

Middle Earth

Personal logo Der Alte Fritz Sponsoring Member of TMP08 Aug 2017 8:51 a.m. PST

Arya assumed the face of Frey and was a full sized adult, so,I don't think that height would be a problem for her if she assumed the image of Jaime or anyone else .

Mithmee08 Aug 2017 12:57 p.m. PST

Most will take the knee.

She is giving them a choice.

Live or Die

As for Sam's father unless proven otherwise he looks as he got a bit to close to the fire.

The Beast Rampant08 Aug 2017 2:11 p.m. PST

Like I could pass up a classic SW reference? grin

Winston Smith09 Aug 2017 6:33 a.m. PST

We saw Jaqen slicing a face in one disgusting scene that didn't involve Sam.
At this moment, Jaime and Arya are a thousand miles apart. Even Littlefinger or Varys couldn't arrive on the scene fast enough so the face would be fresh. I'm assuming they have to be fresh.

I prefer to use my fantasy RPG world for my 2e Battlesystem games. Most players are familiar with it having played in my RPG games at some point. It also gives me complete freedom in scenarios to play. Cheers!
