It appears that all hope of a rebirth of the excellent Venexia range of 15/18mm Renaissance figures has been extinguished. While there are still a few ranges that cover the Italian Wars, there is little variety in pose or dress and most of the figures tend to be more suitable to the later period than the early period which interests me.
Compared to the princely offerings available in 25/28mm I think it is ok to feel hard done by. It baffles me that this most colourful period of history and one where historical armies can be reasonably fielded and battles recreated, is so poorly covered.

Wouldn't it be great if Blue Moon or Legio
Heroica or Totentanz (my current favourite manufacturers of 15mm figures) came out with a comprehensive range for the Italian Wars? Is there a demand for such a range in 15mm? Perhaps if we can generate enough interest here, someone will take note and boldly go where few have gone.

I would certainly be delighted if Totentanz or Legio Heroica, rather then Blue Moon, did that period.

I too regret that Venexia are no longer available although the moulds badly needed a good cleaning.

I have emailed the guy from Sgt Major, who has the melds and he said he will be revamping the Venexia range…..hopefully this year.

His reply was in about March.

But Legio Herica or Totentanz would be good.

I had a full Venexia Swiss Army, over 300 figures that hot lost in the post whilst on its way back from the painters😩😔😖😧🤢

Frostie – you've missed that the Sgt Major guy is currently selling up his lines and is no longer in production of anything, let alone Venexia. Hopefully someone will pick them up, though with the effort that has been needed to get the moulds in shape, they'd have to be very keen.

I regret not getting more of the Venexia figures while I had the chance.

I've bought a few Minifigs recently. There is quite a lot of variety – six types of knights in the Italian Wars range, for instance – and in many ways good attention to detail. On the down side, poses are limited – especially horses, and bags rarely have variety in them.

The Essex figs still look pretty good after all of these years as well. I would love to see the Venexia range reworked or any new ranges. We use Age of Discovery in our group and here's a recent battle report where you can see a lot of the 15mm ranges in action: wfhgs.com/friday050817.html

Khurasan's late 16th century stuff looks very nice. Perhaps there is some hope with them.

Swampster06 Aug 2017 3:26 a.m. PST

Khurasan said after releasing the early 16th century Spanish Colonial Spanish that "The line will eventually be expanded to include sets suitable for the great armies fielded by the Spanish in Europe as well." They already do English for the Flodden period though these haven't been put on the website.

Lancashire Games have announced that they will be doing Italian Wars soon. They had a vote in 2015 about which range to do next and apparently the Italian Wars came last. They announced last month that they are going to do them now anyway and going by the master they will be decent figures

I agree that for cavalry the Essex range still stacks up very well; not so much the infantry though, as is usual with Essex, but if you're selective you can avoid the worst of them.

Swamster, is it true are Sgt Major miniatures in no way going to re introduce the Italian wars range back to the market.
If this is true then it is a sad day indeed, i was waiting and had been given hope they would be.
As to a future release by a manufacturer i agree legio heroica, Totentanz or khurasan i am sure would make a great job of it!
