Depends on what you want in a convention. I like Adepticon. |

GenCon is the biggest Midwestern Convention. There's also PAX South in Texas. It's hard to pick a favorite. |

Did we suddenly stop being the Miniatures Page? Gencon for "gaming." Little Wars for miniatures gaming. |

I agree with Robert P. Tom |

Food for thought, Robert: GenCon typically has more miniatures vendors and games than Little Wars. Perhaps not by percentage of the whole, but certainly in absolute numbers. |

Gecnon is still a "Gaming convention" but with so much more…however I've been learning lately (once again) that "bigger isn't necessarily better". I am still likoing Little Wars more and more. |

GenCon has long since ceased to be a "gaming" convention. It's a media convention where gaming goes on as part of the action. As proof, look at who the author guest of honor is – Charlaine Harris, who writes vampire romance novels. |

Box, at what point does the ore become too low-grade to mine? And I'm primarily a historical miniatures gamer, which makes it even worse. We'd have to grow to be a rounding error--only of course at Gencon, we don't grow. |

You guys complain about GenCon…..don't get me started on ORIGINS! |

I'll counter with a variation on your own initial post: Did we suddenly start calling ourselves the Historical Miniatures Page? Not that it matters. It's an opinion. Mine just happens to be the correct opinion. ;) |

Also, if you know of any bestselling wargames authors, please let Gen Con know… |

The OP asked about gaming conventions, I answered with two in addition to the ones above it. When did it become incorrect to answer the question being asked in a topic? Forgot about Origins as well. I've been to most listed thus far, and played minis, including historical minis at each I've attended. I got my start in historical miniatures playing JagdPanzer at GenCon in 1984. I played first edition Harpoon with Larry Bond himself at GenCon 1985. Incidentally I played General Quarters at Gary Con this year, and Tractics II as well. But hey, I guess that doesn't count amongst the elite among us who feel that only true historical gamers can play at true historical conventions. Meanwhile, I'll keep playing what I like where I like. |

Does SYW convention count? That is my absolute favorite. Ok in all fairness that is the only convention I've been to in 15-18 years. :) |
