It's hard for me to ventilate, I have a small area
in which to do these things. Plus I get really bad sinus problems from inhaling paint and glue fumes.

I am looking for the proper respirator and filters for this job. I tried researching it but I'm afraid I am too stupid to figure it out :)

Get regular hardware store respirator, about $30 USD-$40. link
I have the same situation and use one of those. Helps against all that.

Still, best to use brush primer, not spray. I also use airbrush for varnishing using water based materials.

I didn't find a proper respirator at Home Depot and I bought this

Either link has good ventilator masks. For heaven's sake don't use an inexpensive paper mask.

No, no paper masks-found out just how good they are a long time ago.

Thanks for the links gentlemen. I am liking the 3M paint project respirator. Seems to have everything I read about without the confusion. The 4 best article, I shall go over.

I've had several respirators but I never knew what I was looking for. I love the computer age!

I painted professionally for 38 yrs. and used a

NORTH(TM) 5500 SERIES HALF MASK KIT, M
NORTH BY HONEYWELL, North(TM) 5500 Series Half Mask Kit, M
$28.31 USD /EA

as my main respirator. Be sure and get some extra pre-filters if you are doing lots of spraying. They will save mucho $$ in cartridge filters!

I also just bought a Honeywell (the one in the link about the 4 best respirators). What I like is that the darned thing is actually comfortable to wear. That was a pleasant surprise.
