I love the top houses especially, as so timeless. Would "do for any period in last 3-400 hundred years. Minor point, which may not bother you in the least. The roof pantiles are basically just baked clay, shaped to interlock and seen all over Europe to this day (Indeed on my own N Yorkshire house) and have a red/brown colour, which darkens with age and grime. (The garish new roof on Hougoumont will be ghastly for decades to come but, eventually….) Your roofs are not slate. That is flat, a natural product, far more expensive and lasts for ever……and, depending on origin, blue/grey or green/grey. But they look great! |
