Who is the oldest poster on TMP? I'm only 43 so I might be older but not oldest. |
Old Smokie | 12 Jun 2005 12:02 p.m. PST |
Well thank god it's not me ! I just hit the big FOUR ZERO today |
Condottiere | 12 Jun 2005 12:04 p.m. PST |

Saber6 | 12 Jun 2005 12:09 p.m. PST |
I'm pretty sure it is not the OFM either. |
Doc Perverticus | 12 Jun 2005 12:16 p.m. PST |
I'm 48, but in my own way, I'm also................timeless! |

What about Larry Brom? He is at least 55. |
Ratbone | 12 Jun 2005 1:58 p.m. PST |
Who is the 80-something that marked on that poll? Come to think of it, that poll was from 3 years ago, maybe he's hit 90! |
Wyatt the Odd | 12 Jun 2005 2:09 p.m. PST |
And I always figured that Mike Weaver was younger than me (38 until October). Must be that Neotacha keeps him young. Wyatt |
watsicalled | 12 Jun 2005 2:18 p.m. PST |
well, not many teens do wargaming because it's seen as being geeky, and those that do play GW exclusively, explaining the abscence of teen votes on that poll. I wouldn't be surprised if I was the only historical teen wargamer in the country! |

John the OFM | 12 Jun 2005 2:32 p.m. PST |
I'll be 55 on July 2. So far I am in the lead. Which is like having the high bid on eBay on the second day. Larry doesn't count until he checks in himself. |
Jakar Nilson | 12 Jun 2005 2:34 p.m. PST |
That poll was a couple of years back. I'm 22 now. |
Neotacha | 12 Jun 2005 2:34 p.m. PST |
42 - I'm nowhere near the eldest. Thank goodness! Thanks, Wyatt. |
Sumatran Rat Monkey | 12 Jun 2005 3:05 p.m. PST |
32 here, unless "relationship mathematics" are in effect (wherein you average your age with that of your partner) in which case, I'm 26. - Monk |
Sir Able Brush | 12 Jun 2005 3:30 p.m. PST |
40 - so cant help. Also cant remember anything and find myself drawn to regional and local news programmes and snoozing on the sofa. |
Thomas the Sailor | 12 Jun 2005 3:45 p.m. PST |
watsicalled, nope I'm 17. Geeky, no, I view it as I'm in a better hobby than you. :) Most people I know are fancisnated in the fact that I can paint.... |
Cheriton | 12 Jun 2005 3:55 p.m. PST |
Sorry OFM, 58 here (unless I'm entitled to a discount for the 1970s?). Larry Huber, can you up the ante? |
Cpt Arexu | 12 Jun 2005 4:07 p.m. PST |
I think Rocky Russo or Rudy Nelson (the senior nelson, gamestore & convention sales, forgot the name right now though...) have you beat. Only 44 meself. |
Cheriton | 12 Jun 2005 4:24 p.m. PST |
Ah a mere lad (Cpt Arexu), may you have the good fortune to be 58 (and far beyond) someday! ;-) |
John the OFM | 12 Jun 2005 4:43 p.m. PST |
Well, I'm certainly not going to up my bid... |
Andrew May1 | 12 Jun 2005 4:51 p.m. PST |
I've been 32 since March 14th... |
arturo rex | 12 Jun 2005 5:12 p.m. PST |
Sorry. Just turned 40, three months ago. |
mweaver | 12 Jun 2005 6:27 p.m. PST |
Since I have turned completely gray in the 14 years since we married, she jokes that she has aged me prematurely. Actually, I started going gray when I was 18, so I think it was just my time. |
average joe | 12 Jun 2005 6:33 p.m. PST |
Hey! You're all forgetting that a woman is only as old as she feels. A man is only as old as the woman he feels :-) In which case, I'm 29. Again... |
gamertom | 12 Jun 2005 7:07 p.m. PST |
I'll be 54 next Saturday. Puts me in the upper range, no doubt about that. |
The G Dog | 12 Jun 2005 7:20 p.m. PST |
Not forty for...four more days! |
Editor in Chief Bill | 12 Jun 2005 9:05 p.m. PST |
Cheriton is in the lead at 58... going once... |
Alxbates | 12 Jun 2005 9:50 p.m. PST |
Just turned 30, but I feel old... |
McKinstry | 12 Jun 2005 9:52 p.m. PST |
53 - There seems to be a cluster in the mid-fifties and another bump in the late thirties, early forties. Is there a common theme for either as to initial attraction to the hobby. I know Avalon Hill gets part of the blame/credit with me. |
mweaver | 12 Jun 2005 10:32 p.m. PST |
Avalon Hill and SPI - bought some, but didn't play a lot (early to mid 70s). Then D&D caught me in a big way (Summer '79). |
Fat Wally | 12 Jun 2005 10:34 p.m. PST |
About 70 in the morning, till the body wakes up, round about midday I feel about 50. By the time I leave work, about 100. When I get home and get to see my missus and the dogs I feel about 16 again. ....On my birth certificate it says 38! Though I sure feel older phsically. |
Ironwolf | 13 Jun 2005 12:01 a.m. PST |
My wife says I act like a two year old on xmas morning when I get a package of miniatures in the mail. So does that count as an age??? :-) |
David Hinkley | 13 Jun 2005 12:02 a.m. PST |
I will not be 54 till October so I am out of the running...in more ways then one... :-) |
Tangofan | 13 Jun 2005 12:06 a.m. PST |
37 in a fortnight. Seems TMP is the only place left where I'm young :-) |
Fat Wally | 13 Jun 2005 12:19 a.m. PST |
Age is a state of mind. You get to a certain age and you don't mind! |
Ivan DBA | 13 Jun 2005 1:44 a.m. PST |
28. But I feel older as a gamer, since my dad is an old-style Avalon Hill wargamer, so I've been gaming almost my whole life. I have a very distinct memory of sitting on my dad's knee while he was playing Fire in the East, and him asking me if I wanted to move one unit at a time, or all of them. I of course correctly answered 'all of them!' I seriously can't understand life without gaming. My first real miniatures game was GHQ's 'Tank Charts' for WWII microarmor. (Excellent, if complicated rules, and probably my only claim to being a serious historical gamer, since other than that I play DBA and GW games...) I read Charles Grant and Peter Young when I was 12 or so, because some weird timewarp (a local library giving away old, 'useless' books) delivered their works into my avid hands in the late 80's. I even played games with the old Airfix Napoleonics, which I found at a strange little hobby store near my grandfather's house. |

Just hit 39 & had my first tattoo. A coincidence? |
Ed Mohrmann | 13 Jun 2005 4:42 a.m. PST |
I'll be 64 in July (the 2nd). FWIW, Larry B. is in his mid-seventies, IIRC. |
Steve Hazuka | 13 Jun 2005 6:08 a.m. PST |
I'm nowhere near the oldest |
vojvoda | 13 Jun 2005 7:52 a.m. PST |
Ed is the oldest Gamer/ GM I know that is active on the list or the web for that matter. There are others in the "senior" class but not many on line that much. We have been seeing the passing of many over the past few years. VR James Mattes Young at 45 |

Cheriton Nah I am 49, soon to be 50, but since I have worked with the public for 38 years I think I should tack on some years...lol Larry Huber |
