I would love to know that it was from all those great atomic shelters … are they buried? … or does anyone use them? … are there people on these days who still build their atomic shelters? …

Duck and Cover. If you heard that in a classroom drill you are getting old too. |

People are still builing underground shelters. Look up "prepers". |

Raul, I remember finding one of these when I was a kid in the late 70s. Even then I doubted the chances of survivability. Dan

My best friend's neighbour when I was a kid had a bomb shelter built into the house in the 1950s. (For the record, that was before I was born). He let us go through it one day, and I was terribly disappointed. It was the late 70s or early 80s, and all he used it for was storing groceries. I remember the door was massively impressive, but they never closed it. And he absolutely would NOT let us explore the tunnel that led to the emergency exit hidden in the back yard, for use in case the house had collapsed around the main entrance. I was especially disappointed with that! |

There is a booming(sorry for the pun) business in bomb shelters in Japan thanks to the recent nork missile tests. |

Those brochures and booklets must have been part of the inspiration behind much of the Fallout Vault-Tec concept artwork. Dan

Perhaps we all need to review the suggestions on what to do in case of a nuclear attack. |

Most of these images are so over the top absurd. Like "Atoms for Peace" (let's dig a new canal using atom bombs! Yes, it was seriously considered). Or "survivable nuclear war". Yeah right…. |

Why is Sean Connery leering at that little blonde girl when Maureen O'Hara is standing right next to him in the "Prepare for the Future" poster? |

Those pics are down right amusing … I do remember "Duck & Cover" drills in grade school. Like in the 1st and 2d grades. But as we know … chances are … it wouldn't really matter in many cases. |
