What kind of gaming does your group prefer? * historical * sci-fi * fantasy |
JimDuncanUK | 31 Jul 2017 3:51 p.m. PST |
I give them a choice, biased by troop availability. Just now it is proper historical (Peninsular War), last time it was sort of fantasy (Belgian Congo), time before was proper fantasy (Warmaster). |
Skeets | 31 Jul 2017 3:54 p.m. PST |
Primarily historical though SciFi has recently made an appearance at last month's game nite. |

All. Sometimes historical dominates with occasional rpgs. At the moment it's rpg fantasy and pulp with random ancients. We might bring back 40K for a change of pace in light of the new system. |

What is this "group" thing of which the Editor speaks? |
Frederick | 31 Jul 2017 6:27 p.m. PST |
Almost all historical Very rarely sci-fi; I think the last time we did it was Dinosaurs eating time-traveling Nazis |
Mooseworks8 | 31 Jul 2017 6:44 p.m. PST |
My solo-wargame buddies and I like all three. |
Cmde Perry | 31 Jul 2017 7:42 p.m. PST |
Yes Though it might be said that the order in which you posted the options is likely the order of preference. As we play board and card games in addition to miniatures, "abstract strategy" might be a fourth category. Perry |
torokchar | 31 Jul 2017 7:48 p.m. PST |
Lone Star Historical Miniatures (LSHM) club here in Texas – we are probably 75% historical. But we do play other: LoTR, Terminator, All Quiet on the Martian, ….. |

All types-from cards to boardgames to roleplaying games to video games. |
Oberlindes Sol LIC | 01 Aug 2017 1:27 a.m. PST |
I would say science fiction, then historical, then fantasy. We don't play much Warhammer, but is it science fiction or fantasy? |
GildasFacit | 01 Aug 2017 2:30 a.m. PST |
Historical as a group but some members dabble in other areas. |
Dynaman8789 | 01 Aug 2017 3:48 a.m. PST |
Historical but Gate of Antares is being played disturbingly often. |
ACWBill | 01 Aug 2017 4:54 a.m. PST |

Old Contemptibles | 01 Aug 2017 2:08 p.m. PST |
Historical only. With just a couple of malcontents. |
etotheipi | 01 Aug 2017 2:42 p.m. PST |
Whatever I set up for them. Most of the scenarios are historical. Second is modern civil and military engagements, which may be (recent) historical or current hypothetical (i.e., events contemporary law enforcement and military organizations plan for). Occasionally, the historical scenarios will be played with fantasy or scifi figures. F'r'ex, this year we played Cinco de Marso with VSF ERB figures because I gave away my Puebla figures and hadn't replaced yet. |
Tgerritsen | 01 Aug 2017 4:42 p.m. PST |
Wait, you only have one group? I have a few, some like historical, some like a Sci fi, and some fantasy. Some play minis only, some rpgs and board or card games. I play them all. |
