We played a very fun game involving an American attack on some Japanese bunkers two nights ago. Find the battle report here: bucksurdu.com/blog/?p=6667

This was another play test for the soon-to-be-released South Pacific supplement.

How are spotting and opp. fire handled in CP?

Opportunity fire uses an attribute, called Reaction. When a non-activating unit would like to interrupt the movement of an activating unit, each figure "rolls" against the Reaction attribute. If successful, the figure may fire and then lose its next activation because it essentially acted early. If the figure fails badly enough, the reacting unit both fails to react and also loses its next activation. This makes attempting to react have an element of risk.

In the Pacific game as the Japanese soldier with the lunge mine ran across the opening to attack the Stuart, two American units attempted to react. Most of the figures rolled poorly. Those that did fire missed.

Spotting attempts are made into an area. A card is drawn, appropriate modifiers are applied, and if the result is a success, figures in the spotted area are revealed.
