So I am looking for some ideas for my soviet army. After looking over an ocean of dark green helmets I decided I needed to add something different. I started with bases (urban, winter, summer, fall), then naval infantry (black death). I am running out of ideas. I am exploring NKVD with all garrison covers instead of helmets and maybe some camouflage scouts, but is there anything else? With my germans there is so much I can do: different camouflage, division Azul, Fins, 33rd Waffen SS Charlemagne, etc…. any ideas or thoughts for my boring Russians? |

Cossacks? Katyushas? Cossacks and Katyushas? |

And I would not include Finns with Germans. That's an insult to a fine nation. Technically speaking, they weren't even allied. |

Ok, let me rephrase, opposition to my Russians. |

On the Cossacks, thank you. Sometimes you over look the obvious. I was thinking partisans too. |

In 1941-42, some Soviet infantry were still wearing the Budenovka pointed cap with the red star on the front. Peter Pig makes compatible figures in their WW1/RCW range. |

There's also the Engineer-Sapper battalions, who wear both body armor *and* camo! Still a bit of a horde of green helmets, though. |

Peter Pig do a selection of heads wearing different Russian headwear (Side Caps, Ushankas etc)if you wanted to break the Green Helmeted look up a bit. |
