The guys behind the Fire & Bone metal jewelry KS now have an upcoming line of RPG miniatures to better match your mini's equipment with that of your character.

Hand of Glory is a new type of gaming miniature with a very cool twist: each Hand of Glory figure and accessory is magnetized using tiny rare-earth magnets. This means for the first time, you will be able to change your character on the fly. This will literally change the game!

Since everything in the Hand of Glory line is magnetized, your character can swap out weapons and items to use whatever your adventure calls for. Since all accessories work with all figures, you can easily customize your character's loadout and pick up new items along your journey. You can level up your character, swap weapons with allies, and steal items from foes. Use Hand of Glory to tell your own story.

Well, they did one thing wrong. You need ratcheting rims to keep the hands from spinning around constantly, while still allowing you to place them in different positions. It's what Ninja Magic was using.

For their review, Nerds on Earth played with the pieces in an RPG game, and didn't mention that spinning around was a problem. They did say, "if you try and move a figure by an attached weapon for instance, you get a spinning piece. To be fair, it doesn't disconnect, but it does feel like it could be attached stronger."

So, yes, you could get the miniature to spin, but you'd have to be pulling the miniature around by the weapon. Doesn't sound like there's any problems when the miniature isn't being moved, or if you push it by the base or hold the miniature itself.

Fantastic idea … although the hands are (I guess inevitably) a bit on the large size.

Still … 19 days to go and funding currently at 1,200 percent … not bad!

Would seem to indicate quite strong demand for this kind of approach.

Yep!

The creators said, "The female sculpts will be tweaked to be more proportional for the final production molds."

The GeekDad review said, "This doesn't notice too much on the hands holding weapons, but the empty hand I have is slightly out of proportion. If you look at the pictures on the Kickstarter page, you can see this is the case, but I would have to say with the miniatures I've been sent, the hands, though slightly on the large side, are in better proportion than the Kickstarter pictures suggest." Personally, I'd like them to have, for their second KS, a "slender hands" KS for females, elves, halflings, etc.

Six accessories have been unlocked, and, at $200 USDK, they'll be adding a new, female, figure. Current projection is just under $300 USDK.

fwiw, I'm also picking up these miniatures for various dungeoncrawl boardgames, many of which have equipment swaps during and between gameplay.

Not something I need, but it's a great idea and not terribly expensive when you consider the number of bits and the inclusion of the magnets

Doesn't work for me. The hands don't look like they belong to the figure.
