Anecdotal: Damn, it was hot. Crotch pot cooking hot. About as hot as it was the first year, and I came about this close to heat exhaustion trying to short cut from the Hilton to the convention center back then. My ancient pickup truck's radiator boiled over in stop and go traffic on the ride down. No kidding.

Bottom lines up front: Lots of good games being run, I played in a few, slept through one when I got caught in the deluge, and thoroughly enjoyed that aspect of things. I tried CROM with more than two players, it's a great system I will use again. There was some magnificent terrain in evidence this year. Team Yankee looks to be catching on, and I predict the next "big thing" might be gangster games from the look of things.

Enjoy,

Walt

Nice report, Walt. Glad you had a good time.
I agree it was hot. When we returned to the car on Weds. after lunch, the car said it was 109 degrees outside. We didn't know the car's numbers could get that high. We moved figures inside ASAP because there was concern the figures would melt in the heat.
The hotel lobby registered 80 degrees all weekend long, even with the AC going. The Vendor Hall, Flea Market and Main Gaming Hall all had to be about the same. The Club Rooms were a little cooler. I don't know if you noticed, but the lights did flicker a couple of times.
HMGS may return to a venue in the DMV (District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia) area again, but it won't be in July.

And yet I thought the temperature was more temperate than in preceding years. Once the rain storm came, the temperatures dropped…..a bit. I even spent some time wandering around some battlefields on Sunday and Monday (something this Canadian wussy would have never considered before).
