A brand new set of rules for the American War of Independance is released today.
Designed to suit any figure scale or basing system, these simple and fast play rules have been designed exclusively with this period in mind.
They have a unique system of unit Fighting Factor linked with Temporary Disorder that changes as the units move, give fire and fight.
The basic unit is the battalion with troop quality and it's fighting order being crucial to the way it moves and fights on the battlefield.
They are available as a hard copy on eBay for £7.50 GBP, or as a PDF from myself at £5.00 GBP

Also now available from Magister Militum and Dave Lanchester Books.

These sound very interesting. Has anyone played these? Looking for a in depth review of one with a little more detail. Thank you!

A little more detail then!
A unit is primarily defined by its quality, Veteran, Trained or Militia and the Order in which it fights, Close, Open and Extended.
These two characteristics combine to define how well the unit moves around the field of battle and how quickly it can rally from the Disorder that invariably results. This Disorder has a telling effect on the units ability to Give Fire and to engage in Combat. Indeed Disorder alone can leave troops effectively unable to fight at all and leaves battalions vulnerable to attack. This leads to key tactical decisions on how hard to push an attack before pausing to reorder the ranks or simply dare I move the a Militia at all in the face of the Redcoats?
So the numerical amount of Temporary Disorder needs to be recorded along with the current strength. Disorder can fluctuate up or down whilst The Fighting Factor can only be reduced, as mentioned the amount of a Disorder will affect the FF. Typical unit FF for a half battalion, i.e. a Wing would be 5 or 6.
Then units may have special characteristics such as Shock, Determined, Timid, rifle etc.
So far I have refought first and second Camden, Hobkirks Hill and Eutaw Springs with very satisfying results.
Feel free to ask away!
Lance.

Hello Lance,

Just a quick query about your play-testing. You say " … first and second Camden, Hobkirk's Hill …".

This list leaves me confused. Aren't "second Camden" and Hobkirk's Hill in fact the same battle?

Hiya,
Indeed they are! Just a twitch of the fingers probably, no revolutionary historical revelations, pun intended!
Lance.
