A Game of Fire and Ice at Historicon

Saturday night: 7pm – 11pm

Command one of the great houses of Westeros and win the Iron Throne. Each player will choose one great house and then assemble a coalition of other houses to do battle for the Iron Throne. A series of linked battles with new coalitions forming behind either the current king or latest pretender will determine the eventual winner. An ally in one game may be a mortal enemy in the next.
Each battle will be played out using A Game of Fire and Ice , a quick play system of medieval war (similar to De Bellis Antiquitatis DBA). The game is easy to learn and beginners are welcome. Figures representing Lannisters, Greyjoys, Starks, Baratheons, Freys, Tullys, Martells and many others will be provided (or you can bring your own army). Battles will take about 90 minutes to resolve and players can participate in as many battles as they wish.

We had a multi-round campaign Battle for the Iron Throne using A Game of Fire and Ice in Atlanta over Fourth of July, the results:

Anne O'Conner as Lady Cateyln Stark holds the Iron Throne

The Beheaded:
Scott Fiacher Iron Born
Ian Laboate House Tyrell
Edward O'Conner House Lannisters
Tim O'Conner Lord Stannis
Thomas E. Thomas Prince of Dorne
Henry O'Conner Wildlings
Thomas J. Thomas House Targaryen

Congradulations to Anne – its first time a Stark has managed to sit (and keep) the Throne.

We also had a multi-big battle campaign for the Iron Throne using A Game of Fire and Ice, after three rounds:

Thomas E. Thomas sits the Iron Throne as the Prince of Dorne

The Beheaded:
Dominic Messia Lord Stannis (won We Got Next Targaryen Sigil for qualifying as next Pretender)
George Hord Lord Lannister (won Stark Sigil for We Tried but We Died as last Pretender)
Patrick McKevitt Lord Stark (won Brienne of Tarth as Paladin for next event for smallest army)
Joe Arlech (sp?) Iron Born
J. Leadeich (sp?) Daenerys Targaryen

Special mention for Thomas E. Thomas who besides winning the 25mm tournament reclaimed the Iron Throne for the third time (he had just lost it to the Starks in our July 4th event). Next chance to claim the Iron Throne DragonCon Atlanta, GA Sept 1, 2017.

How are the rules coming for the fantasy expansion for Fire and Ice?

Thomas Thomas Supporting Member of TMP24 Jul 2017 10:31 a.m. PST

I've got fantasy rules in Fire and Ice but the full "Old World" version with Elves and Dwarfs is near done and about to launch – adding everything we have learned in the dozens of additional battles that we have fought using Fire and Ice.

Hope to have it out by August.

Thanks for the interest,
