Howdy, Photobucket, a formerly free website (had to put up with their intrusive ads), now (no notice given for their change in policy) wants $400 USD a year. If it was $40 USD I'd consider it. But $400 USD is robbery. I condemn their attempt at extortion. Can anybody recommend an alternative? Ponder on, JAS

I use Flickr. Free, ad free and easy to use. I have two accounts, one for family and one for toys. I have an old cell phone I use for soldiers. I loaded the Flickr ap and it uploads automatically as soon as I hit a WiFi hot spot. Works very easily, I've been very happy. |

Strange. I just logged into my Photobucket account and encountered NO popups. Did see the change of policy and did read the terms. However, the account is still remains free FOR ME. |

Howdy, Apparently there is an arbitrary ceiling, if you are past it they hit you up. Poopey on Photobucket. JAS |

Per the new terms of service, there are still free accounts for those with less than 2GB of images. But you can not link to those images. So many of the pics on TMP forums, including all of mine, are about to disappear. :( The minimum plan that allows for linking is the "Plus 100 Plan". This gives you 102GB of storage, and linking. Cost is $99.99 USD per year. Nope. Off to move all my stuff to Flikr. Kinda a bummer to think all the old threads are just gonna be full of broken links from now on. Dems da breaks. -Mark (aka: Mk 1) |

Hmmm. Worse than I thought. The links haven't been broken yet, but … 4 different "libraries" of pics of my wargaming / hobby activities over the past 10 years are no longer available to me. It seems that Photobucket is holding my pictures hostage. I can not get them out. >8-( |

I have an Imgur account also, but their TOS prohibits hotlinking, so that wouldn't help with embedding images into forum posts. For the moment, I'm using my Blogger account, until I figure out an alternative to Photobucket (a pox upon them). |
