No GWA, my "vision" of more relaxed, is not having to bite my tongue and not tell ignorant people what I really think of them for fear of being DH'd. Unfortunately the vast majority of these people can't be PM'd, and I'm enjoying a break from their bizarre opinions. I also believe that there are a lot of people on this site who've never even seen a wargame and just come on here to stir it up. |

Your minister of the internet is a basic member so he can't get in He's on a special mission. He has 2 weeks to gather the ENTIRE Internets. When he returns TMP will be flooded with links to every Internet page ever created. |
Cacique Caribe | 05 Jul 2017 2:13 p.m. PST |
Gunfreak: "Cacique Caribe is minister of nuclear armament (yes TMP will under the Gunfreak regime be a rouge nuclear power)" I'm definitely loving that! Dan YouTube link
|
foxweasel | 05 Jul 2017 4:05 p.m. PST |
Ha ha, nice one Dan. Is that a rouge nuclear power or a rogue nuclear power? I quite like the sound of a rouge nuclear power, dangerous but a little bit camp. Sorry mate, couldn't resist it. |
Editor Gwen | 05 Jul 2017 5:48 p.m. PST |
Dear Great War Ace, You said no new memberships are happening. Where do you get such an idea? Since the boss went on vacation, I have processed nine renewals and 31 new memberships. Please do not be so negative, and no more lies. |
Great War Ace | 05 Jul 2017 9:22 p.m. PST |
What I meant is that no new members are posting; so in effect their memberships don't start up until they can post, nobody knows they are even here until they an post. Sorry for the poor choice of words. Or, am I mistaken that only Bill can process new supporting memberships? Any new non supporting members have to wait for Bill to get back in order to have speaking privileges…….. |
Volleyfire | 06 Jul 2017 3:54 a.m. PST |
I've upgraded to Supporting Member GWA just so I can post on here in Bill's absence. Bill is now richer to the sum of $2.50 USD. I hope he doesn't spend it all at once. I was hoping to nominate myself for a ministerial role, Minister of Utter Drivel for instance? |
Great War Ace | 06 Jul 2017 7:00 a.m. PST |
Heh! I get it now. Bill has "gone off" to encourage non supporting members to pay for their TMP "fix". :D "It's workiiing …" Clever idea. Actually, I hope it works……… |
Great War Ace | 06 Jul 2017 7:06 a.m. PST |
One thing seems evident: Ultra Modern has gone into a coma without Tango………. |
Gunfreak | 06 Jul 2017 7:33 a.m. PST |
Most of the forum is in a deep comatose state. Volleyfire can be a minister, for the right bribe. Ochoin is now the lord high Admiral of immigration. |
Volleyfire | 06 Jul 2017 7:40 a.m. PST |
You put a comma in! I thought for a moment there I had been appointed (or anointed) the Minister for the Right Bribe. I was just about to work out my rates. |
Tango01 | 06 Jul 2017 2:57 p.m. PST |
I accepted my Ministry dear new President… and began to work inmediatly!… (smile) Amicalement Armand

35 new Supporting Memberships, do you understand now? |
Volleyfire | 07 Jul 2017 8:02 a.m. PST |
Certainly a lot less contentious stuff on here in the absence of some (basic) members. |
Great War Ace | 07 Jul 2017 6:26 p.m. PST |
Yes, Gwen, I do understand. Supporting memberships are up. That in itself is a good thing……….. |
Volleyfire | 08 Jul 2017 1:12 p.m. PST |
………..but it's so quiet on here you can here a pin drop. |
Gunfreak | 08 Jul 2017 2:03 p.m. PST |
Sorry I dropped the pin, can I get it back. My hand is tired from holding this grenade. |
Cacique Caribe | 08 Jul 2017 9:04 p.m. PST |
Yeah, don't waste that grenade. It's one of my thermonuclear prototypes. When you really do use it, make sure to toss it hard. It needs to land a few dozen miles away or you might find yourself within the blast radius. Dan |
Gunfreak | 09 Jul 2017 1:15 a.m. PST |
Luckily TMPs new, highly immoral and dangerous generics program has spliced genes from the the best MLB pitchers and the mantis shrimp into our soldiers. They can throw a grenade 30km. An added bonus is they can now also see in infrared. Sure some 10 000 "volunteers" died in the early experiments. But you can't argue with the results. |
Bashytubits | 09 Jul 2017 1:08 p.m. PST |
Your approach to this is interesting Gunfreak.

+4 what David Manley said – the thing about Supporting Members being able to post nicely during this period without acting like drunken teenagers (I paraphrase!). |

ochoin | 25 Oct 2017 5:25 a.m. PST |
BTW, FYI, IIRC, he was Locked Out Ralph, Stalky (of "…and Co") was also fond of a gloat. It seems you were misinformed. |
Legion 4 | 25 Oct 2017 5:37 a.m. PST |
So yes … I was misinformed … It happens … stifle me if I upset you. Who is Stalky ? [With any luck you will stifle me and can't read any of this. One can always dream …] |
ochoin | 25 Oct 2017 5:39 a.m. PST |
stifle me if I upset you. Ralph, we've talked before about heaping Pelion on Ossa. I would advise you to lessen the heaping. |
ochoin | 25 Oct 2017 5:40 a.m. PST |
Stalky, M'Turk & Beetle are Stalky & Co. |
Legion 4 | 25 Oct 2017 5:41 a.m. PST |
Darn ! Still didn't stifle me ! … Never heard of Stalky and Co., etc. … Must be an Oz thing … Just like on this thread … TMP link … our interaction devolved into that US TV game show "Jeopardy". The categories : Greek Mountains Cities from the Bible Dead Matadors L. Frank Baum "I'll take Greek Mountains for $200 USD, Alex !" … |
ochoin | 25 Oct 2017 5:45 a.m. PST |
Nope L. Frank Baum was responsible for other matters. I am starting to grow tired of your telling me to shut up, though. Isn't that contravening a rule here at TMP? |
Legion 4 | 25 Oct 2017 5:50 a.m. PST |
Didn't tell/say to you to shut up … never said that. But if you think I did let Bill or Gwen know … They will judge … |
ochoin | 25 Oct 2017 5:54 a.m. PST |
Telling me, ad infinitum, to stifle you is clearly a euphemism for telling me to shut up. I believe the object of forums is to provide a platform for an exchange of ideas. For example: TMP link |
Legion 4 | 25 Oct 2017 5:58 a.m. PST |
Well then … don't let me stop you … Maybe I'll will stifle you ? |
ochoin | 25 Oct 2017 6:07 a.m. PST |
Adding an emoji doesn't negate the implied threat. Why can't we simply talk without the barrage of references to stifling? |
Marc at work | 25 Oct 2017 11:01 a.m. PST |
Stifling is not really hostile is it. Guess it's a calm down thing maybe |
Editor in Chief Bill | 25 Oct 2017 12:17 p.m. PST |
Telling me, ad infinitum, to stifle you is clearly a euphemism for telling me to shut up. Not. |
Legion 4 | 25 Oct 2017 2:23 p.m. PST |
Thank you Marc and Bill … Now … Hopefully we can move on to more appropriate topics/posts … |
Mad Guru | 25 Oct 2017 11:14 p.m. PST |
Not trying to drag out any inappropriate discussions, and only chiming in because I've been a big Rudyard Kipling fan for at least the past four decades… @Legion 4: "Stalky & Co." is a series of Kipling stories collected into a novel, about a bunch of schoolboys at a British boarding school, patterned after the school the author attended as a boy. They quote the classics in Latin, play pranks, cause mischief, and act with an overabundance of arrogance. The epilogue tells how they all went on to serve with the army in India, where the education they got at school -- and especially their misbehavior -- trained them to excel as soldiers of the Empire. The title character of "Stalky" (which is of course a nickname) AKA: Arthur Lionel Corkran, who Ochoin compared you to above, becomes a bit of a legendary officer, perhaps destined to rise to great rank and accomplishment in some future European war (the book was published in 1899, so the hypothetical conflagration turned out to be World War One). Here's a LINK to an online edition of the last story in the novel, "Slaves of the Lamp, Part II," in which the boys meet again as adults and "Stalky" and his adventures in the Sudan and on the North-West Frontier become a major topic of discussion: link |
Legion 4 | 26 Oct 2017 5:51 a.m. PST |
Well I read a lot of Kipling poetry in high school. But was unaware of the Stalky stories. Thank you for the information. As I have said before, you can learn some interesting and worthwhile things on TMP … compared you to above, becomes a bit of a legendary officer, perhaps destined to rise to great rank Well I'm not so sure what Ochoin's intent, etc., was. I rarely do … I'm a bit "dense" in that way. I only served 10&1/2 years as a US ARMY Infantry Officer, '79-'90. Only obtaining the rank of Captain. That is as far as could be said about me in regards to "destined to rise to great rank and accomplishment in some future European war " But thank you again for the information ! |
ochoin | 26 Oct 2017 12:13 p.m. PST |
Thanks Guru. Ralph missed the point (he thought we were playing a footling game called Jeopardy, which I looked up to find was some sort of quiz show), though I am pleased to see in his no doubt rebellious Youth he kipled with the best of us. You are welcome to the compliment, Ralph, & although in truth you are no Dunstable, I would hope the final line of John Milton's poem, "On His Blindness", might provide comfort. |
Legion 4 | 30 Oct 2017 8:10 a.m. PST |
OK … I'll bite … I've asked a number of people including Bill … Who is Dunstable ? And I still don't know for sure who he is and what he has to do with me or even the topic. When I goggled it, he was a Brit who fought with the forces against Joan of Arc, and a poet & musician, IIRC. So … I'm at a loss to see what "although in truth you are no Dunstable" means to me ? I'm certainly not old enough to fight with or against Joan. Or anyone else in that century. Nor am I a musician or poet. So guess if that is who you are comparing me to, well then yes, "I'm no Dunstable" ! And we've been over that whole about "those who stand and wait", Milton, etc. But I guess I'm too slow/dumb/stupid to again see what "comfort" that would provide me ? Again this reminds me of that US TV game show "Jeopardy" … Although it truth you are no Alex Trebek … Also, I was not a rebellious youth, I was a Jock at best (or worst ?). Plus my Father wouldn't put up with that sort of stuff … At times he did "spare the rod" … But he also knew when to use it if need be. And did ! |
Legion 4 | 02 Nov 2017 3:29 p.m. PST |
Wait … did you mean the USMC Gen Dunford ? If so … of course I Am No Dunford, besides he's a Gen. and I was merely a CPT/03. Plus He's USMC but me former US ARMY ! |
ochoin | 02 Nov 2017 5:03 p.m. PST |
Ralph, Bill's passed an edict I can't talk to you again. He thinks I've upset you! At any rate, I'm just replying so you don't think I'm rude or have stifled you. As this is our last exchange I hope this doesn't fall foul of the edict. And no, I did mean the great Dunstable. Mind how you go. |
Legion 4 | 03 Nov 2017 6:37 a.m. PST |
BILL … don't DH, etc. Ochion, please … But I need to know who Dunstable is and I said I know I'm not anything like him ? But from a historical standpoint … Who is he ? After that Ochion you don't have to risk talking to me anymore. I don't have anything that important to say … or you or anyone really needs to know or even comment on. |
Major William Martin RM | 03 Nov 2017 4:01 p.m. PST |
Legion, Ochoin won't have to worry about talking to you, or pretty much anyone else, for awhile. He's received the dreaded "Cacique Caribe Treatment", his account is temporarily locked with instructions to contact the moderator (sound familiar?). I suppose we can now start "Free Ochoin" threads and go through the waiting period where he can't contact the mods, but they say they're trying to reach him, and then the obligatory exchange of e-mails (and the usual waits for slow replies). Some day we may see the return of Ochoin, and then again, he may just decide the whole thing is just not worth it. Queue music: "Another One Bites The Dust" by Queen…. |
John Leahy | 03 Nov 2017 8:06 p.m. PST |
No. Ochoin is a great asset here! His games are exceptionally inspiring! He is a nice guy to chat with. I truly do not want to see him disappear! |
Legion 4 | 04 Nov 2017 8:49 a.m. PST |
As you can see … I requested him to not be DH'd, etc. … But that decision was made by the Eds. Not me … whether I agree with it or like it or not … As I said, I don't have anything that important to say … or anyone really needs to know or even comment on. |
Cerdic | 04 Nov 2017 9:45 a.m. PST |
Legion… Dunstable is near Luton. You need the A5! |
