Can anyone suggest a set of rules that cover the 18th century wars of the Ottoman empire, such as Ottoman v Russia or Ottoman v Austria?

For a period feel you may want to go with something like Warfare in the Age of Reason. For a more relaxed game I would recommend All the King's Men and tweak the morale rules to represent the two sides.

Volley and Bayonet would work well for the larger battles.

I have used black powder for it and found it works nicely.

Personally I'm a huge fan of Rank & File, but there's no accounting for tastes.

I use force makeups from many sources. The War & Conquest Napoleonic supplement has some decent call outs for the Ottoman / Persian in the Napoleonic era. Likewise Koenigs Krieg <www.koenigkrieg.com> has a 12 page detailed call out for Ottoman forces in the late 1700's which, given the Ottomans inability to upgrade except in fits and starts, could be used through to the 1830's. Very useful.

I would recommend Black Powder Rules. Hope it helps.

As always, comments are appreciated.

Take care

The Black Powder rules work well for Ottoman v others battles. A small tweak is needed to allow for mounted archery.
