OK it's ultramodern military ceremonial rather than warfare, but seems worth noticing – link

It could even be be all female when there's a queen and all male when it's a king, or perhaps completely the opposite.

It's just for looks.

It isn't that the guard commander is a female that must upset the guards units in the UK.

I suspect the fact that she is only five foot two, must grate on the regular guadrdsmen who would have to look down to even see her.

Rather amusing in that if the point is to prove that women are mens equals in this as in so many other areas that the 'first' is so important to note.

Although it will be interesting to see the first woman drafted to fill a combat infantry role…

That's when they'll protest. They want it both ways.

Canadian women have had all military occupations, including combat roles (except subs, which came later), open to them since 1989. It's no biggie in the hip countries.

It's guys like you who require it be noted as female soldiers have to overcome your patronization; would you change one of your quotes to be about Jackie Robinson? "Rather amusing in that if the point is to prove that black baseball players are white's equals in this as in so many other areas that the 'first' is so important to note."

In the end, I doubt the protests from women will be any different than the protests from men.

I would have prefered a man leading a guard of men…..personally i cannot stand and never allowed to be lead by woman…my solution : i seduce her so in any case i ll lead her
