Question I'll be posting on a few forum: How many Hinds in a Motor rifle Division? Tank Division? Tank Army? Combined arms Army? I think we see them more often than we should. |

I have notes for 6 Hind and 6 Hips for a division. Not sure where I got it. |

I'm trying to illustrate that when we see the number we do it means that the Soviet force is more likely the Main Effort (and probably should have a LOT more other assests) |

Agree, Saber6. You'll probably be on the receiving end of the DAG, too, if not more OS from higher. |

If you were trying to keep air cover over a moving regiment, I would think you would have 1/3 of a helo. squadron available at any given time. As they run out of ammo or time over target, they leave and the next wave comes in. So if your lead regiment or Forward Detachment is being supported by a Hind Squadron you would have about 6 available. |

Yep, 4x Hip, 6x Hind and x Hip. Unless you are doing an Air Assault division. |

I think it looks ridiculous for a 6x4 table to have a line of Hinds rotor to rotor from one side of the board to the other (6ft/1.8m) as I have seen a some big Conventions – some players even wanted to take the rotor disks off so they could cram more models on the table. And they wonder why I avoid playing games at Conventions……… |

Are we talking Team Yankee games here? The description certainly matches a lot of the TY games I have seen. The same FOW tendencies repeating. "Swarm'o Helos" to match the "Wall'o Tanks" 'tis a silly game |

There are two different issues here. Should we see Hinds regularly on the tabletop? Probably not… they represent a tiny sliver of the material resources available to the Warsaw Pact forces and even though they would have been working overtime with round the clock flights in a "hot war" situation, they would still be fairly rare on the battlefield. Should we see large amounts of Hinds? The actual doctrine was to use them en masse, so seeing only one or two Hinds would actually be far LESS likely than seeing a whole flight of them. There is actually a third issue… we're talking about toy soldiers and leisure games… let people play with their dang toys and relax. |
