Can anyone point me to some free rules regarding rabies in RPGs? I would much appreciate it. Thank you. |

Bunnies and Burrows is the only Rabbit RPG I know of. |

Rabies is a nasty and untreatable neurological disease, usually contracted from mammalian bites and scratches. The symptoms usually present between 3-6 weeks from infection, but this can be from about 2 weeks – 10 weeks. Check Google for a full description. |

Thank you, Wakmole9 and herkybird. Bunnies and Burrows can be used to sumulate Rabbids, but has strikingly little about rabies. And I am familiar with the real-world rabies infection. My problem is that I need to figure out how rabid jackals would differ from uninfected jackals in game terms before I run the next scenario of Mazes & Minotaurs for my wife. I can translate stats from any edition of D&D or it's clones easily enough :) |

For DnD 5e I would make the infected attack recklessly on every turn. Bite attacks would pass on the disease. Not familiar with M&M, but basicallly a bonus to or an extra attack with a significant defense penalty. |

Lack of fear and irrational behaviour, petty much what Ghostrunner says. Also in the later stages, lack of bodily co-ordination due to muscle spasms. That assumes you are talking about real world rabies, rather than a fantasy or a mutated or genetically engineered disease that is 'popularly known as' rabies. See Zombie virus/disease. |

If someone were to infect an enemy population with a genetic combination of rabies with another behavior-modifying pathogens like toxoplasmosis, now that would be a formidable weapon. link Dan TMP link |

Thank you, all. Ghostrunner and bsrlee nailed it. I also found this link which is identical to their comments in application. Sobieski, even *I* make grammar mistakes sometimes lol! Dan, that idea deserves some follow-up in a new topic. That would make a great start to a Zombie Apocalypse :) |

C&H, Thanks! Just let me know when and where you start that new topic, so that I can contribute a little to the discussion. Dan |

I actually will be including disease rules in the second edition of Stars of Empire. Rabies will be one of them! |

A little late for this thread, but Pathfinder does have an entry for rabies: link "Rabies Type: disease, injury; Save: Fortitude DC 14 Onset: 2d6 weeks; Frequency 1/day Effect: 1 Con damage plus 1d3 Wis damage (minimum reduction to 1 Wis); Cure 2 consecutive saves" So this version of rabies is actually fairly easy to recover from on your own, with no medical treatment whatsoever. As an "injury" based disease, you would be exposed every time an infected critter bites you. The CON damage could potentially be fatal, but the DC 14 save target is not very high, and you only need to succeed twice in a row to be cured. |
