I'm a big fan of British castles and the ones found in Wales are amongst the finest.

Harlech Castle is steeped in history and is perched high on the cliff looking out over the sea, except the sea has now retreated and the land below is built on!

Shawn Brown has produced a detailed plan drawing of Harlech which crys out to be built from base to top by an enterprising scratch built builder/modeller. Good for historical and fantasy interests.

Additional information and plans have been carefully collected by Alabast on RPG Booster blog. Well worth a look. link

An awesome castle, I remember visiting it on a very windy day as a kid, my brother's and I clinging to the battlements afraid of getting blown off. This was back in the day when health & safety where just words ;)

Those were the days my friend.

The Castle of Lost Causes!

Last place to hold out for Welsh independence, either York or Lancaster can't remember which, and last mainland garrison of the Royalists in the First Civil War

Somewhere I have the visitors' guidebook with a foldout plan if anyone needs any details.

It just cries out for an adventuring party and a good DM. Wide range of historical periods, too. And I'm reasonably sure someone was held here during the VBCW.

VBCW?

The sea shall return!
