Looks superb, what do you recommend for the rough finish on the walls and the rubble shown in the photo?

Just the feature for many ancient armies.

Thanks, Mithridates. Really glad you like the design.

I like to use sandy tile grout on the walls, sometimes with a spot of PVA. I use more expensive sand texture acrylic medium on smaller models. The rubble here is torn off pieces of polystyrene packing. Cork would also be good. There's no sand as such on this model but there is chinchilla dust on the ground.

Poor chinchilla!

Nice model, by the way. Beautiful, actually.

Very neatly timed for me as I'm about to look into a North Africa campaign! :)

Do you plan to add more later on?

Loving that!

Do you plan to add more later on?

Yes, at least three or four more in the wings waiting to be finalised – all designed to fit on a 150mm-square base.

Very nice.

Is it modelled on an actual fort and would that fort follow a simple rectangular plan?

Many possibilities. Thanks

Apologies to anyone who might of wondered where this post had disappeared to when it was removed from quite so many relevant boards – especially Pulp players who may never look in the Historical Wargaming Message Board and might otherwise have discovered a model ideal for a Pulp adventure.

Is it modelled on an actual fort and would that fort follow a simple rectangular plan?

The model isn't based on any actual fort but the crenellations appear now and again in Arabic fortifications. But the model wouldn't look out of place as non-Arabic scenery for Bronze Age, Fantasy or Sci-Fi tabletops, for example.
