I'm trying to put together a German list, I'm a new player and will be playing against an allied player who is also new. We've played before, but just small games. Trying to build up to a 1760 pt army.

These are the two SS lists I'm thinking from Grey Wolf (based on the figures I have and that I would get to close the gap). I gambling he won't spend points on aircraft.

Option A: P 110 Totenkopf Fearless/Vet

HQ Command SMG + 2iC 75 pt

Combat
Gepanzerte Pz Plantoon x3 w/ Command Faust 270 pt
Biemeyer's Pz IVH x 5 325 pt

Weapons
Pak 40 x2 125 pt
Scout x 2 130 pt

Support
15 cm NW41 x 3 + Pak40 + Transports 140 pt
Tiger x 1 240 pts
Stug x 3 325 pts
Scout x2 130 (use w/ Faust SMGs but lose recon?)
Total 1760

Option B: P 110 Wiking Fearless/Trained

HQ Command 60 pt

Combat
Gepanzerte Pz Plantoon x3 w/ 1 Faust per squad 230 pt
Gepanzerte Pz Plantoon x3 w/ 1 Faust per squad 230 pt
PZIv H x 5 390

Weapons
Pak 40 x 2 95
Scout x 3 135

Support
15 cm NW41 x 4 + Pak40 + 140 pt
Stug x 3 250
Gepanzerte Pz Plantoon x3 w 1 faust per squad 230 pt
Total 1760

What are my blind spots? I thought about taking another 5 Pz IVs with Toten, but I don't have the figures…

I think Option A is the better base to build on, as Veteran vs Trained is a huge deal, especially with so few bases.

Could you swap the Support Tiger and Scouts in Option A for more Gepanzerte Pz Platoons? Because right now the list is not legal as it does not fit the compulsory selections (unless I'm mistaken).

You're right, I need one more infantry platoon. I was switching back and forth between the Tank and Infantry companies and got mixed up a little.

I'd like to play with the Tiger (and would really like two, but know I really can't afford the points), so I'm going to see if I can move back to the SS Tank Company and make this work.

My advice is don't sweat the details. Your Ver 3 list is already out of date and not useable due to Vers 4 which was just released. And Vers 5 that makes all of your Ver 4 lists null and void will probably be out soon. Cheers!

Yeah, I'm not really planning to play V4. I like the V3 rules just fine. I've still yet to see what the "improvement" is for V4 early/late war really.

Every FoW player I know has no intention at all of "moving up" to V4. We like V3 just fine.

V4 sort of rippled here a bit and then everyone just kept playing V3. It probably has to do with how many people had non-El Alamein mid war armies that have no rules under V4.

As for the german list in question, I'd suggest the Veteran force. It really makes a difference when you're already going for a lower model count.

You're going to want the veteran troops.

If you have the models, I really do recommend including a platoon of light AA (Flak38s or Flakvierlings). If your opponent doesn't bring air, those 20mm guns will shred halftracks and infantry.

I tend to agree with Lion – vet infantry is best in most situations. AA is useful too, especially since you'll end up defending a fair amount.
