Some very sturdy poses there but perhaps the shields are a bit 'regular' looking.

Mind that it is a preview. We have not pictures of the actual sprue yet. Maybe they will include other shield types in the final product.

Interesting in that all the riders are wearing mail armor.

Glad you like them my friend.

Interesting in that all the riders are wearing mail armor.

Yeah, I noticed that too.

The "regular" shields and armour makes me think of using them as regularized auxiliaries in a Roman army rather than in a Gallic one.

wrgmr121 Jun 2017 6:21 p.m. PST

The mail and shields would most likely classify them as heavy cavalry, rather than light auxiliaries?
Thoughts, gentlemen?

So cool looking… I will need to dump my old lead in the to do bins…

Main issue with them is that they all have round shields when there's next to no evidence of Celtic cavalry using such.

Beautiful flow and animation.

battle master30 Nov 2018 7:54 a.m. PST

look more like those that would have appeared in Caesar's armies as mercenaries (wearing mail) rather than the indigenous gauls

French Wargame Holidays02 Dec 2018 3:13 p.m. PST

There are different shields in the set, I will possibly chop them up a bit more though and add some unarmoured

Cheers

The Victrix plastic horses are the best plastic horses I've seen. I wish the Gripping Beast plastic sets had horses like these.
