I got my boxed set yesterday and have been working on these guys since then. The plasma gunners are painted but not based yet.

I really like these figures. They are very attentive to detail without having ridiculous amounts of extraneous stuff on them.

I need to get the plasma based and then they will be going straight into a game.

The rest of the guys can be seen here:

You said you got these yesterday? yikes thats more than I can manage in a week of painting.

Pictors Studio18 Jun 2017 10:58 p.m. PST

Well they only came out yesterday and the store didn't open until noon.

The Hellblasters:

Too late for a game today, maybe tomorrow.

Shakes his head and walks slowly to the dark room of painting despair, softly closing the door behind him.

Yeah, I'm joining the "League of Disheartened Miniature Painters" with Rapturek369 too!

The details on them are really well crafted – they clearly show the Mk. X armor to be higher tech, with subtle callouts to, I think, both GW's own Tau (sorry, T'au) and Anvil Industries work. I may be reading too much into it, of course.

But the set is really nice. The way they managed to get multi-posing out of having keyed parts is really, really clever.

Great work – and I am joining the march to the dark room of painting despair

I got the hard cover new WarHammer 40K book for Father's Day – lots of artwork and the core rules are covered in a surprisingly few pages

Those look sharp. Picked up a squad off eBay and am looking forward to them.

Nice painting Pictors!

I saw them at Origins. GW had a booth running demo games. Love the poses and details. HATE the scale creep. These things are not just bigger. They are another scale all together.

Relax guys, I think he's pulling our legs. Twelve figures assembled, painted, based, flocked, and decaled to that excellent degree in less than a day? I find that hard to believe. If he didn't get an advance copy, I'm betting his LHS got their supply early. (I got my box on Wednesday.) That said. FANTASTIC JOB!

I agree with nvdoyle, the engineering on these parts is extremely clever, too clever to be the general release of the Primaris line going forward. I like to animate my figures more than the standard poses, and look forward to them having the separate legs, torsos, and arms of traditional sprues.

As far as I know my FLGS didn't get their stuff early. Either way I was on-call Wednesday, Thursday (only 7a.m. to 7 p.m.) and then Friday until 7 a.m. Saturday morning. I had a training all day at work Friday too that went from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. I didn't get sent out Friday after that but spent the time painting terrain for the game I have today.

The FLGS opened at noon on Saturday and that is when I got them.

It is actually 17 figures, including the hellblasters. But it is also over a day, more like 36 hours.

I'm glad you guys liked them. They were fun to paint. I didn't do much else for the rest of the day Saturday, even not going on my usual walk, although I did walk to the FLGS to get them and went to the gym on the way.

I went to the gym yesterday too but other than that just painted all day.

You must have two hearts, and need no sleep. I'm amazed.

Looking good!

"You must have two hearts, and need no sleep"

Well, I am a transplant coordinator, so there are times where I am in possession of two hearts, however briefly and we famously get no sleep. I worked 101 hours straight one time.

That's some nice looking figures.

Here is the Ancient. He wasn't bad to paint. I put him together except for the banner and painted them separately, then glued them together at the end.

I'm not usually fond of standard bearers in 40K armies but this one is pretty nice. Hopefully we will get a chance to try him out in a game later tonight.

I'm going to try to finish the captain tonight before I get a whole new set of them tomorrow.

Pictors Studio04 Jul 2017 9:36 p.m. PST

And to finish them off the Captain in Gravis armour:

picture

Not the best character in the set but I do like the Gravis armour. I'm not fond of the bolt pistol thing on the side of the power fist, it would have been better just to give him a power fist and a bolt pistol or something in the other hand.

picture

The guy is tough and according to the Power level calculation equal to Ahriman. I guess we'll see soon enough.
