What is the strangest army you were compelled to put together? I started trying to find 15mm Star Wars figures for my kids and I. After discovering Micro Machine figures I started collecting them. I now have a Gungan army with Boss Bass at its head. People hate the very notion of this army. I get a kick out of their reaction to it. I have never played it because there are no suitable opponents
.Still, I love to hate them. |

Arguably my Amazons. Mostly Wargames Factory hoplites. Three lochoi are distinguished by having a delta a gamma or an epsilon on their shields. ("We're Delta Gamma Epsilon! We're the girls who carry on!") But the remaining lochos--the aristoi--have on their shields every left-feminist logo I could come up with, from the clenched fist with distaff, through "no smoking" and "recycle" to Wiccan pentacles and the Planned Parenthood logo. Truly, a unit to strike terror in the hearts of men!
(Is it just me, or does the Planned Parenthood logo look faintly obscene to anyone else?) |

I haven't really done any,except maybe the rubber ants and green plastic army men for a "Them!" game, which probably doesn't 't qualify. I would like to find and convert enough of these for a "War in the Age of Raisin" game:
And I have a long-standing desire to make a couple of clothespin armies. But that will only happen after I've finished painting my lead pile. Which means never. |

I have the whole "tribe" of Ral Partha trolls (these are from the 80s, we're talking about). There are names in Sharpie on the bottom of each base, and some of them have a mental prehistory to go along with the names. At one point, I was going to pitch some player characters against my troll clan, with each troll having a character sheet. But thus far the idea is embryonic only. In fact, until this thread, I hadn't thought of doing that in years on years. McMaybe, McNow, or McSoon?……… |
