Gents Hoping you can help. Looking to do some games with drug smugglers in the early 80s with a Miami Vice kinda vibe. Tougher than I thought! Trying to track down 15 or 25mm armed figures dressed in shorts, Hawaiian shirts, t-shirts, sunglasses, etc. or anything that's kinda close. Police are not the issue at any scale, but can't find figures that do this -- zombie apocalypse survivors just don't work. I'd prefer 15mm but I'm open to any scale that's got them and I'll build the project from there. Any suggestions appreciated! Thanks Brian brianjenglish@gmail.com |

For 28mm some of the Killer Bee models would suit nicely. |

I'd look at Rebel Minis street punks and Old Glory's or Peter Pig's African militia if you want guys with AKs. In 15mm you can paint just about an article of clothing as what you want it to be, and racial characteristics are easily masked with the appropriate color of paint. I also wouldn't worry about shorts: if you can find old images of drug traffickers being apprehended you will see that just about everyone is wearing jeans or trousers. |

In Miami Vice, only the the comic relief wears shorts. You will need some women in bikinis, however. They'll be serving drinks, running for cover, and arresting bad guys. |

For 28mm, definitely check out Spectre miniatures, they have loads of drug dealers, smugglers, etc. |

We've got a handful in lighter clothes like that in our 28mm Winter of '79 line. e.g. link A few of the types in short jackets might pass in a pinch. Spectre, Tiny Terrain and Special Artisan Miniatures have (or will have) plenty of those types for a more current feel & weaponry – some will still be useable for your early 80s setting though I'd have thought. |

In 28mm, Special Artisan Services Miniatures has a few superb minis from the Operator Juarez line, which you can get and would work very well for anytime early 80s into the future. give them a look. I have two sets myself, and am very pleased. |

Old Glory has some modern African troops that will work! Pack is called Armed Civilians. Painted some in soccer jerseys and various civ clothes they work great. Scale is 15mm.Even a few throwing Molatov cocktails. |
