Having just received my new edition of Brigade Fire & Fury I see that they have made the base sizes the same as RF&F. Since I have hundreds of figures based the old way on Litko bases I was thinking I might buy a little hobby table saw and cut them down. Has anyone done that? |

Why not just adjust the game tables and play with what you have? What you propose seems like far too much work. Are you the one supplying both sides? Then don't worry about it. |

HI No the table saw will grab the stand and make a rough cut. You would be better served by sanding it down with a orbital sander on its side. |

Just adapt the rules to use what you've got. Life is too short for rebasing. |

I play F+F ( old version) with bases that were originally set up for Polemos ACW. I have both sides, makes not a jot of difference to playing the game. |

I have not and wood (get it?) not. |

What scale of miniatures are you using? I don't recall anything changing between old F&F and RF&F. I've been using my F&F-based 15mm troops for both: Inf: 1" x ¾" Cav: 1" x 1" Art: 1" x 1½"-ish According to the web page on 2nd Ed. BF&F, the basing is the same. Even if you're using a different scale, this shouldn't be a problem. The F&F system only cares that all base widths are the same; despite the basing recommendations in the rulebook, it is totally indifferent to figure counts (bases are basically dioramas, put as many/few as you like on there), and nearly indifferent to base depths (if they're *way* too deep, they might start to interfere with various move/shoot mechanics). An argument can be made that both older versions of F&F put artillery on too narrow a frontage (RF&F barely, F&F significantly), but I'm one of only 2 people I know who seem to care about that. :-) - Ix |

I wouldn't recommend changing bases just to accommodate a rule set. Rules come and go, and you could find yourself going full circle in five years. As others have recommended, work something out. As for trimming Litko bases, I make a cut – to both sides if possible – with a hobby knife, snap off the excess, then take a file to edge to smooth it out. pjm |

The base sizes have remained consistent for BFF (original) RFF and BFF (2.0). My infantry are on 1"x 1" bases, and that has never been a problem. I agree with Yellow Admiral. Base width is really all that matters. I have a small table saw, and I would not try to cut down the stands with the figs on them. I think that could destroy some figs and possibly the saw. |

It is just the depth, I have mine at 7/8" instead if 3/4" which I think the original book allowed. I guess that really would not matter that much, if at all. |

Not even a little bit. Don't cut anything. If you really want to modify something, show off to all your friends and pack your stands with 4 figures in all the extra real estate afforded by that extra 1/8". :-) - Ix |

That was the reason I did the extra size particularly for my Union troops to give the impression of more mass. My Confederates are all 3 to a stand. Thanks everyone for your help. |
