Quite good pictures here…. "Today I would like to introduce you a few pictures and films from the "Blüchertage 2017" in Kaub am Rhein. This event is dedicated to the Rhine crossing of Marschall Blücher from 1813/14. The smallest town in Rhineland Palatinate (860 inhabitants) awaits its guests here. There are a historical market, various performances, and, of course, various reenactment groups on the spot. I personally know a few members of the 8ième Regiment D'Infanterie de Ligne and I have visited the guys. Of course, Frank and Arndt were there with their troops. A show at the Pfalzgrafenstein castle, an artillery shooting from the banks of the Rhine, marches and exercisings were shown. An all-round successful event. In the village there is also a museum, dedicated to Marshall Blücher. I have also visited this, but will present it to you in a separate report. Have fun with the report and the pictures…" Main page thrifles.blogspot.com.ar Wonder to know to which unit is the "French" soldier with pink pants…

Others may disagree but I thought that striped trousers ended after the Revolutionary Wars. I see no authority for striped pants in the 1809 period -- which seems to be the period this guy is trying to re-enact -- at least based upon the length of his coat and the shako. |

But you missed the fluorescent green coats of one of the "French allied" units. Just go to the link and scroll down a ways. Jim |

The gren guys are acity guard unit (Villingen I think) and they did indeed wear very bright green uniforms. They always stick out from the rest with their special uniforms but they are very keen re enactors |

Their neon green uniforms are those of a modern association (a kind of marching society), which has its roots in a town guard formed in Villingen in the 1820s. They have got Brown Bess muskets, but that is all which is Napoleonic about them. Still they attend Napoleonic re-enactments whenever they are invited by the organisers. |
