Is there a set of rules, where each stand is representing a platoon or company, that portrays infantry operating with, indeed, alongside or amongst the AFV, instead of the usual discreet stands of all Infantry or all AFV This intermixing is well done in Skirmish games, but not at all in Command Decision, indeed, I rarely have seen Infantry intermixed with AFV in either TY or FoW |

Spearhead – both Modern & the WWII version have the infantry & their vehicles integrated on one stand – but I don't know of any other systems off the top of my head that do. |

[Self Promotion] Yes, Mein Panzer Core Rules is an Combined Arms rule set that has infantry, AFV, Aircraft, etc…
AFVs are represented 1:1 while Infantry are represented 1 stand = 1 squad.
I've played Guadalcanal where Buffalo AFV swim ashore supporting Marines storming the beaches or Europe where Half tracks are providing fire support to advancing infantry. I had an armored car unit advance with infantry attempting to take the Police station at Latrun Israel with Arab Legionnaires defending. Good Fun!!

Regarding Spearhed I have never seen the integrated stands with both AFV and Infanyry on the same stand but only stands of All AFV or All infantry aned are treated or can be treated as seperate Regarding MP, it doesent fit into the problem as outlined That is, it is a game of individual AFV and Inft squads, not about AFV platoon stands or infantry platoon stands Indeed in MP the individual AFV are treated as seperate from the inft stands The close cooperation between the individual AFV and the infantry, as at Kursk and in the Pacific is lacking |

Do not forget different nations' tactics. With Warsaw Pact one would expect to see infantry running alongside their AFVs in the advance, however with the British the 432s would dump their infantry and move to an RV to provide some fire support of get the drivers making the brews! Tally Ho! |

Rick, IIRC (it has been a while) in Spearhead stands of armored infantry represent the infantry operating with the close support of their armored transport. I had my microarmor armored infantry stands based with a transport and a few grunts on foot spaced around it. However, I don't know of any rules where a true AFV (tank, etc) is based with infantry. For one, in most instances those are adhoc groupings. There are plenty of rules out there that allow cross attachment between infantry and AFV units and in many cases this provides some benefit – usually when operating in close terrain – and is an abstraction that accomplishes the same thing as basing them together as the assumption is that the AFvs in this case would be operating dispersed among the infantry units |

The Soviets during the Afghan War would frequently (read nearly always) separate the armored vehicles such as BTR's, BMP's and BMD's from their infantry to operate as separate units. These were called "bronnegruppe" or something like that (too tired to look it up right now). For more information on how these operated look up the book "The Bear Went Over the Mountain" and it's sequel. It gave the Russians considerable flexibility in the use of their armored vehicles. |

The standard tactic when facing a combined arms attack is to by break it down into it's component pieces and defeat it in detail. Strip off the supporting infantry (with artillery, mortars, and machine guns), leaving only the tanks, which blinded, cannot safely advance. Meanwhile anti-tank weapons (other tanks, TD's, ATG's, & ATGM's) fire only at attacking armor stranding the infantry. You propose putting two different target types on the same stand. How will you remove casualties? |
