Very interesting!

With all the influence you have around here Tango, perhaps you can convince him to sculpt and produce a few of these figures in 1/32nd scale.

Tango, please let me know when these figures are available for purchase. I've wanted a 20mm Napoleonic army for years!

When I say 20mm, I mean figures that measure 20mm from the top of their base to eye level.

Can you tell me how tall one of your infantry figures is from the top of it's base to eye level?

Do you have "Crescent Among the Eagles" by William Johnson? If not, you must get it. It is the book on the Ottoman Army during the Napoleonic period. It has several great illustrations of Ottoman troops.

You can order it from Nafziger's website at link

As you know, Newline, Irregular Miniatures, and a couple of other companies make 20mm Ottomans or other 20mm figures that can be used as Ottomans. Here is a list that I've put together:

Djellis: Pathans from RSM
Yoruks: Newline
Mamluks: Historifigs (Scruby) and Newline OTT30
Janissaries: Newlin, RSM and Irregular Miniatures
Nizam-i-Jedid (in tassle cap): Musket Miniatures, CWH0054)
Sekhans: RSM Pathan, Irregular Miniatures TN 6 and 7, and Newline OTT 51 and 18
Rayas: Irregular Miniatures TN 5
Derbents: RSM Pathan standard bearer, add rifle
Albanians: Newline OTT25

However, I would much rather purchase figures designed to be Ottomans than have to convert figures.

By the way, I've collected quite a bit of information on the Persian army as well (although most of it covers the Anglo-Persian War of 1857) but I'd be happy to share it with you.

You can contact me directly at Burker1 (at) aol (dot) com.

Hi Robert,

as the figures are my own I can answer your questions.
The figures are 1/72, so bigger than true 20mm figures.
They will be available at Hagen Miniatures in around 2-3 month when the range is complete. Depends on how fast the sculptor is.

I have the Crecent among the eagles, a nice book.

Thanks for your list on 20mm figures. I have the newline in my collection but always though Irregular too small to fit with 1/72. RSM I have only European Napoleonics. Do you have a link where I can purchase the Ottomans?

cheers
uwe

Hi Bob,

thanks for the link of RSM. But I find their Ottomans only in the 25mm section. Can anybody tell me the size of their 25mm figures?

Robert Burke21 Jul 2017 1:09 p.m. PST

The RSM 20mm Janissary may not be in their catalog but I have ordered them. They look very nice.
