A post CC started a week or two ago about propaganda posters with Chinese troops in the US under the guise of acting as a UN peacekeeping force was intriguing to me, so I started to roll ideas around in my head. Then, this past weekend, I read "One Year After" and, in that book, the Chinese have occupied the west coast of the US under the guise of providing humanitarian assistance after "The Day." Some more ideas to firm up what CC started … Is anyone else taking a similar tact for their post-apoc world?

Here is CC's post:

It was a brilliant idea

Don't do much post-apoc gaming but this would be a great way to go

I like it, too. IIRC, that was the premise of the computer game Homefront, although the bad guys were North Koreans (Norks).

A year after is perfect!

By then some of the main players have made it through some trials and tribulations, but things are still fluid and filled with many dangers.

I'm thinking a Yellowstone mega-eruption might be a good natural catalyst, even if it's only a relatively short burst lasting a couple of months.

A year later the central government still cannot cope with providing help to all the affected areas. The ash drift destroys everything from the Rockies almost to the Appalachian mountains. The Pacific coast and Hawaii are relatively unaffected by the ash, but are not immune to the chaos that follows.

And so the way is opened for outside powers to come and help those in need, which is perfect for those who might be looking to exploit the vulnerability (perhaps arriving under the guise of an international mandate of relief crews and peacekeepers).

PS. Guys, whatever you do … DO NOT trust Pacifica's Governor Benjamin Dover. He's a collaborator. Do not go to his re-education camps, or join any of his relocation programs! :)

By the way, I've added some minefield signs and a few more posters:

Guys, I went ahead and combined the concept of these 2 well-known WW2 posters into something that you might be able to use, particularly if you're gaming scenarios involving Australia.
