Ive got a couple platoons of 15mm Marines painted up for use in some Fallujah scenarios we have been playing. (Force on Force) Here and there the FOW cards call for Army Rangers and Delta Force units to show up. At 15mm the differences in camo pattern and gear dont seem to make it worthwhile to paint up different units but to just use and designate some of the Marines instead. Opinions? Was there a enough of a distinction to warrant purchasing and painting up actual Rangers, DF guys? |

It depends on how detailed your painting is. In general, in Fallujah in 2004/5 the Marine and Army forces, even SOF, were indistinguishable. The biggest give away at any distance was the types of vehicles nearby. Up close the differences in uniform became clearer. |

Hm, if you can afford some new models or spare a few, I'd say its worth painting up a squad with dcu-- I'd imagine you're basically painting your Marines tan (maybe mottled for the camo effect) with woodland gear, and based on some pics I quickly searched, Army units in Fallujah 2004 would look the same except the unform camo. At 15mm dcu would have some distinct "stripes" of darker brown, and maybe it's even worth adding the light green splotches. Different enough, and it'll help players tell the units apart. Delta Force, imo, have different enough equipment that buying some Rebel Minis Special Forces and painting them up in mostly DCU (but maybe a little variation, though pics suggest that wasn't as common in Fallujah at that time?) with various camos (and solid colors) for helmets and gear should do the trick quite nicely. |
