Under the Black Banner is the title of my next project. This will not reach the level of the Severan project but will include a good many enemies of the Abbasid Caliphate. Aside from the figure painting and battles, the period offers some additional items for the campaign rules. link Cheers, Robert |

Chariot is probably your best bet for Tibetan although the infantry are lacking. And of course Essex has just reworked there T'ang. On the other hand Outpost has a good line and lower priced as well. Not sure who does Abyssinians aside from Bloody Day and he is selling his lines off. At any rate, look forward to the forthcoming posts. |

Khurasan makes Tibetans and Tang that might fit what you are looking for. However, not all of Khurasan's ranges play well with others and may be too big in comparison. |

@ goragrad, I did not know that Essex had reworked the Tang. The DBA list offer as option an all mounted force of 2/3rd heavy and 1/3 light horse or half infantry, all bow or crossbow armed. Are Outpost figures smaller that Old Glory? @ Berthier2, Khurasan are an option, but ordering from the US would add import and administrative costs that are not funny. Their Tibetans do look tempting though. I thank you both. |

Outpost figures are a bit larger than Old Glory. Not much though. |

If memory serves (my Tang army is at the club) the Outpost are slightly taller, but the foot are also a bit slim. That said, I was quite happy with how they painted up. |

You are welcome – figured the fact that they were on your side of the pond could be a factor. As noted by Perris0707 the Outpost are a mite larger. Haven't gotten any of the new Essex T'ang yet to see how they compare. |

Thank you all for that extra bit of information about Outpost. I do have a number of ancient armies which are exclusively Essex. Their poses are limited in comparison to Old Glory, but the softer metal would make conversions easier. At the DBA Fanaticus, there is a lively discussion about the Zanj rebellion and appropriate figures. I noted in the Essex – Crusader lists four Black infantry figures loin cloth or kilt which also have my interest ('black' Spartacus). |

I should register there some day. Tabletop from Alternative Armies has those in their Arab range – a bit small compared to Old Glory though. Two flavors – a generic Negro and a Sudanese (rather more ferocius looking). I am using the Negro for my Blemmye/Nobades spearmen. By the way, Donnington has some Axumites in their African Kingdoms range (no pictures unfortunately). They also note that for Axumites in Arabia to use figure from their Arab Conquest range. link |

A few photos of Donnington Axumites can be seen here (TMP thread). Scroll down. TMP link |

Missed that discussion – thanks. Decent figures. Have to say the Feudal Castings/Bloody Day look better. I have some of their other lines and may try to get some of those before they potentially disappear if someone doesn't pick up the range. P.S. Just looked at the Donnington Dark Age Arab line – some figures there that as their site notes would do well for Christian Nubian, Pre-Islamic, etc. link |
