If anyone has played this variant of DBA I would appreciate it you could clarify some of the rules for me? Do overlapping elements/stands (in either melee/shooting) count? I would think they do. The thing is Generals, BUA's and forts are listed as tactical factors on the included play sheet, but overlaps aren't (nor is being uphill in melee). It mentions infantry were in a loose formation (unlike Napoleonics) and can act like skirmishers. There are no light troops/skirmishers in the rules. Does that mean infantry can traverse bad going in line? Does one command PIP dismount a brigade of cavalry or only one element/stand per the core DBA rules? Appreciate any help/thoughts on the matter. |

The rules do use DBA as its core, so you would be correct to factor overlapping elements and uphill of enemy for close combat calculation. Movement through bad going follows the rule book (assuming this uses DBA 2.2), so no group movement, only single elements or in column. |

The few games I played used overlapping stands. I don't know about dismounting cav. |
